The Balade des Marais is an exceptional place. The location is very beautiful and peaceful. The terrace looks over a lawn to a small oak wood with salt marshes in the distance - wonderful for after-dinner walks. The cycle route, Vélocéan, passes by the house, through nearby villages and along the coast. The hustle and bustle of the nearby beaches and towns are left behind in the evening. Jean-Claude and Annette are extremely warm, friendly, and generous hosts. Jean-Claude is an exceptional cook. The breakfast, which is included in the price, and the table d'hôte/evening meals that are offered certain evenings are a gastronomic treat, enjoyed with the hosts and, in our case, a small number of other very congenial guests. The rooms are comfortable, with a clean, spare aesthetic & modern, elegant fittings. The only small improvement that might be made is a more comfortable chair for sitting. But the chairs and table outside were actually what we used most during out stay. Merci Jean-Claude et Annette!

A small but very nice property in excellent condition with a great location right in front of the entrance to the walled old town with lots of shops and restaurants. The staff was warm and welcoming as well as helpful with all our requests. Breakfast was very good. The room was a pleasant surprise - very large bedroom, plus a sitting room as well as a very good bathroom. The room also had an exterior door going out to a very pleasant terrace with table and chairs in a small, shaded garden. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was large and comfortable.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable and pleasant stay, very family friendly including an adorable toy-kitchen in the dining room. The room and hotel decor is modern and trendy. The breakfast is delicious. Perfect location. The terrasse downstairs is lovely. We didn’t have time to try the restaurant but it looked very promising! We would recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

Upon arriving after a long day of hiking, it turned out that all restaurants and supermarkets in the little town of Merques were closed. The owner conjured up a wonderful souper with salad, cheeses, fruits and dessert. And the breakfast was exceptionally varied and good. The room was styled with sweet beach details such as shells in the plaster on the wall. The room was very clean.
