A quiet location now with enough facilities still to make it a good location to stay and use as a base whilst visiting other sites. There are a lot of historical sites in and around the town but no attempt has been made to advertise them although a money seems to have been spent displaying Oliver Cromwell. A free photocopy-able guide to the town history plus the riverside and common walks would be nice. A town has been in this location since Roman times and had a Norman castle. There was talk of a Saxon \ Viking site on the common? Pathfinder headquarters was here during WW2

Godmanchester is my home town so I love it.
Godmanchester is my home town so I love it. There are lots of places to visit, the Cromwell Museum, Houghton Water Mill, Portholme, the River Grest Ouse, Godmanchester Causeway and the Chinese Bridge, St Ives, anywhere around and about.

Huntingdon clean, very little litter, perfect break if you want to learn about Oliver Cromwell. I used it as a place to break the journey to Great Yarmouth, staying overnight going to Great Yarmouth, and for two hours on long drive back.

The Old Bridge was great for a special celebration dinner.
The Old Bridge was great for a special celebration dinner.
The Falcon was a lovely friendly local pub.
The Ephesus Hill couldn't have been more welcoming, and the food was gorgeous.
The town is small enough to walk everywhere.
The watercourses around Fenland are great for seeing wildlife, especially birds.
The only thing I would do differently on another visit would be to *remember* the locations of Aldi and Lidl, which were both very close to the property. We wasted time, while we were out, looking for groceries, when there were both those shops a stone's throw from the property.

Compact town to visit on foot.
Compact town to visit on foot. Highlight is the Cromwell Museum. Good use of off-High Street shopping presincts.
Where are the town planners/architects with a solution to restoring High Streets, particularly the shop fronts, to something in keeping with the town's past?

Huntingdon has a lot going for it!
Huntingdon has a lot going for it! Its a great place to spend a day traveling with the family, see the Cromwell museum, enjoy the high street shops, and have lunch at the Old Bridge, and play on the playground by the water. Definitely worth a look!
This was the cutest little apartment right by the high street in downtown Huntingdon. The walk from the train station took 10 min, and its right by the bus station to Cambridge. They had everything we needed for breakfast, and it even had a smart TV so we could binge netflix! So many shops, restraunts and grocery within easy distance. The kitchen is well equipped and it was lovely to have our own laundry. This is a garden level with no steps to enter which I was hoping for. It's at a dead end, so very private, no traffic by your flat.
The room was a delightful surprise, especially as we didn't realise that it had an upstairs mezzanine bedroom. Also it had been refurbished very recently so everything was like new. There are two smart TVs a 50 inch downstairs and 40 inch upstairs. The kitchen part is tiny but it was fine for all we needed.
And finally plenty of parking space. Much better value than the popular budget hotel chains.
The hotel is in the heart of Huntingdon and is an old coaching inn. There is plentiful free parking though you do have to do a loop along the old high street to get to it owing to the town ring road. The staff were lovely and the food was good. We booked a Superior room and were delighted to find it had a 4 poster bed.
Great flat, close to the town centre of Huntingdon, with good parking. Plenty of room, excellent facilities, nice, clean decor (looked newly done). Big shower was great, with nice toiletries. Well equipped kitchen with high quality items. Couldn't fault it for a short stay in the area.
the breakfast was wonderful...and the staff serving were exceptional. the location of the property was perfect for waling around exploring the beautiful shire of huntingdon......i was sad that i had to depart before witnessing the lovely swan giving birth to her little ones.
Such a welcoming couple who run Thorpe Guest House. The room was beautifully presented and felt much more upmarket than any hotel room available at the price range. The breakfast was professionally presented and well cooked yet with a homely atmosphere. Would recommend.
On a positive note, the hotel has had a refurbishment, I am guessing this is part of their rebranding to "Delta" Brand. The bedroom was spacious and well appointed. In contrast, the redeeming factor was the lounge bar and restaurant's, staff were outstanding.
The hotel was beautiful and historic in a perfect location for exploring, and the included breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The bar and restaurant were charming with a varied menu to please everyone, and the property was clean and well maintained.
I enjoyed that we were able to cook and be able to move freely unlike a hotel room. The TV's worked great, the internet was great. And the bed was soft and comfy. The location was perfect.
The hotel was spacious, good lay out , clean and pleasant to stay. Room was big and bright. Breakfast was amazing!
The lady at the bar who knew my room number was a lovely lovely.
Handy for town Centre
Parking advice could have nearer we felt as there was a car park across the road. Hard to find the entrance to the hotel on the ring road
Very helpful and welcoming host. Although a little compact it had everything that we needed. Pleasant rural location and only a short drive from Huntingdon
Location is fantastic, being in the centre of Huntingdon, just 1 step from town centre. Every thing at walking distance, bus station and train station.
