Pretty much what you would expect from a 19th century (?) building. Room was on second floor, up and down three sets of stairs. Hall and room floor slope noticeable. Bed was ok, older memory foam. Windows are original wooden single pane so expect some condensation. Room was quiet except for being next to hall stair landing that creaked anytime someone walked by. Room was clean and had plenty of storage. WIFI worked great. Restaurant on the first floor is excellent. Location is good to things to do in town and in the area. We did not use them, but the grounds look great and family friendly.

Breakfast and dinner were fine. The bedroom was aweful . single glazing. Bathroom like a fridge. we had to walk up flights of stairs and through a recreation room to get to our room no lifts! decor shabby in bedroom it is an old hotel. dining room clean and modernised.Staff friendly and helpful. We did note a for sale notice on outside of the property and were told the owner was absentee landlord.

There was no breakfast, given the price. It was very easy to go to Sainsbury's and buy some items. What an excellent base to have a look at Galloway and it was very easy to find my way around. I need to return and explore the surroundings even more.

Newton Stewart, or the low land forests, does not show up in what to do in Scotland. This is a hidden gem. Nice town with lots to do in and around. Historic Museum is excellent if you like that stuff (I do). Nearby park and hills offers great hiking and biking opportunities, we went on two 3-5 KM hikes. Kennedy castle gardens was an unexpected treat and opportunity to get more exercise. This was a nice two day stop between the Irish Ferry and Glasgow.

We were told that Newton-Stewart was a charming village, even though it is very out of the way. We were looking for nearby accommodation from the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse. Turns out that the lighthouse was the only good thing on offer. We hired a night sky ranger to visit the dark sky park in Galloway, which was very cool. However, the village seemed shabby and most things were closed for dinner on a Sunday after 6.

It was the perfect place to come and unwind, surrounded by nature. We spent most of our time sitting in the outdoor 'living room' watching the weather change across the valley and Lulu contentedly grazing in her field or sitting round the fire pit, watching a thunderstorm! The bathhroom is just awesome!
A lovely, really clean and comfy place to stay, with excellent hosts. Fay and Dane were friendly, welcoming and very helpful with information about places to eat and visit (before and during our stay) but seemed happy to be in the background if other people didn't want to engage for more than the basics. Rooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Newton Stewart has plenty of options for food and drink (within easy walking distance) and is a great base for exploring around SW Scotland. I'd recommend the place unreservedly.
The service was unmatched, every member of staff were helpful, efficient and friendly, they couldn't do enough for you. The restaurant menu was great - a lot of variety especially with the specials menu changing frequently too. Breakfast was also a winner, continental and a full Scottish breakfast if you wanted (you could pick as many or as less items as wanted). The hotel is more than 300 years old so it was lovely staying somewhere that holds a small amount of history.

stayed for one night whilst in the area with work. Great little hotel, lovely room with private bathroom, comfy bed plus all the amenities I needed. The lovely lady who showed me to my room even brought me a fan cos it was a very warm evening in sunny Scotland. Highly recommend 👍
Great setting, lots to do, beautiful views. Caravan had everything you needed and was in a quiet area. If you are looking for somewhere to eat I would recommend The Belted Galloway VIsitors Center in Newton Stewart, food was brilliant and it was a quirky wee place.
The location is great, only a 3 minute drive to Newton Stewart. It's very quiet, only 3 caravans surrounded by fields full of cows. There was a welcome tray with tea, coffee, biscuits etc which we appreciated. The caravan itself had a handy balcony and nice bedding.
The B&B was excellent, I could not fault it and Nicole was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Also, the breakfast was amazing. Although Newton Stewart is not the most interesting of places this B&B is located only only a short drive from Galloway forest.
The location of Newton Stewart is very handy for getting the ferry out of Cairnryan.
The views from our room were great of the Galloway landscape.
The food in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced.
Breakfast was exceptional, really tasty and piping hot. Staff were very friendly. Room was smallish but very adequate with tea, coffee, etc. Hotel felt really atmospheric and seemed quite old.
Stunning property and location, close to lots of great places to visit. It was our friends first visit to Scotland and they were not disappointed. We would definitely return.
Lovely clean & comfortable accommodation, has everything needed for a relaxing break. The park that the caravan is located in is also spotlessly clean and well maintained.
Stayed in South Lodge.
Very well equipped and spacious.
Good wifi
Good location to explore the south, only 5 minutes from Newton Stewart and local amenities.
The location and scenery were amazing. The lodge was really lovely. Everyone around was so friendly. Newton Stewart wasn’t too far with some quaint shops.
The staff were friendly and conscientious. The food was excellent - loved the haggis. The hotel is in a good location with pleasant countryside around.
