Stroud is quite a big town in Gloucestershire and, as such, it has all of the shops and amenities one would expect. Plus, with a taxi rank, train station and frequent bus services to/from Cheltenham and Gloucester, among other places, the town is well connected. I would recommend it as a base from which to explore Gloucestershire.

Vibrant, friendly and historic town full of stylish places to eat and drink, unique gift shops surrounded by beautiful countryside. Local bus service was also very reliable on the Saturday ( well - better than my own at home anyway!). Public toilets in the town were clean and convenient.
I was on my own but felt safe even at nighttime.
Would recommend the indoor market, Stroud Bookshops, as well as Cornflower and Calico for kitchenware gifts. The Coffee House and Curio Lounge Cafe Bar were great places to visit as well.

Amberley Inn was in a village outside Stroud, the area was very picturesque and plenty to do in the area. The Aboretum at Batsford was exceptional with lovely autumn colour and the Cotswold Villages are a delight.

This is a lovely place to visit mainly because of the friendliness of the locals. Everyone I met was helpful and clearly very proud of their town. Loads of independent cafes and coffee houses in the town centre. For a special treat, The Corner House is a great place for a lunch or evening meal.
Note that this town sits in a valley surrounded by a number of picturesque but steep hills, so if you are walking out and about, be ready for a climb. Terrific scenery though, so worth it. I was particularly impressed by the number of independent shops of all kinds, especially those selling local artisans' wares. A great centre for all kinds of crafts.
Made a last minute decision to away for the bank holiday and were delighted to find an apartment available. We had apartment 2 on the ground floor at the back of the building. Incredibly spacious and well set out. No view but, on the other hand, absolutely no noise from the road which we were concerned about.
Ideally placed for exploring the surrounding area and we picked up 3 great circular walks nearby from the information sent by the owner before our arrival. Also worth a walk along the canal to the town center.
Beautiful house set slightly back from the main road, which was busy but not particularly disruptive, heard no noise at night.
Plenty of room in the well kept apartment, lots of facilities. Parking for guests. I was on foot, I'm a fairly quick walker, it took me around fifteen minutes to get to the centre of Stroud. Few pounds in a taxi. Quiet area at night. No issues requiring contact with the owners, but I did call to let them know I'd arrived and they were friendly and helpful
Food great. Staff all very personable and supportive. Great dogs are allowed there, loads of space for them to run outside. And they were certainly no problem in the hotel. Great surroundings, good like I said, quiet, lovely soft beds. Who could ask for more. Wouldn’t hesitate to back anytime of the year.
For got to say, lovely linen, loads of thick towels. View from window across the moors just lovely.
We really liked the apartment, it's very spacious, clean and well presented. Very quirky inside with lots of different levels and rooms, and the two full bathrooms (one with bath and one with shower) were very useful. The Old Fleece pub/restaurant next door, was fantastic. The food was wonderful and the staff so friendly. There are some lovely walks in the area.
Well-situated in a heritage area, close to the town centre, public transport and other local services. Comfortable, warm flat with quiet neighbours, good facilities and pleasing views to the hills and Severn Vale. Particularly liked the canal-themed photos on the walls. Provided a welcoming 'second home' during my stay.
We liked the location and having the cottage to ourselves with a kitchen. We appreciated all the thoughtful touches, such as milk, fresh eggs and some grocery items. There was also information on things to do in the area. The grounds were lovely with beautiful flower gardens. Some members of the family enjoyed the hot tub.
Friendly & efficient staff in both the Reception and the dining restaurant. Bedroom was comfortable. Lovely location in Cotswolds countryside, yet, only five minutes drive to Stroud town centre. I liked the delicious meals served in the restaurant and the excellent breakfast.
I went there for playing golf in Minchinhampton Golf Club. The location is perfect, not only for the golf but also for exploring the Cotswold Area. The bed is comfortable. I enjoy staying with the family of Emily, which made me feel at home.
Good clean room, called the same day. Very friendly staff. Good selection of ales, wines and cocktails. Excellent dinner in the garden. Outstanding views and walks around the hotel. Easy to book, easy check-in, easy to find.
Perfect stay. Clean, comfortable, excellent location, and friendly staff. Bonus points for wonderful included breakfast. This one definitely ticks all the boxes if you're visiting Stroud. And you should visit Stroud.
Excellent food and they were the BEST hotel we have ever stayed in for dealing with my wife's Gluten Allergy (Coeliac). Instead of the usual stress, we always felt very confident that they knew what they were doing!
Well equipped and cosy apartment. Good parking and convenient for local pub, walking into Stroud or local brewery and cafe. Comfortable bed and small patio area at the back which caught the morning sun.
This hotel exceeded our expectations. The food was particularly delicious and we loved the interior decoration. Comfy, luxurious and characterful - stunning area too with great walks.
The hotel was in a convenient location for Stroud. The facade looks impressive and the room was quiet. The bedding and towels were clean, as was the bathroom.
