Symi is a beautiful little island, with an abundance of shops and restaurants to browse and choose from. We stayed around the main harbour area and didn't feel the need to hire a car or take a bus anywhere. We were happy to relax on our balcony for the most part, read, drink coffee and people watch. We did venture to the walk to the small beach one day for a swim, which was lovely.

Friendly people and picture perfect. It was not overcrowded.
Friendly people and picture perfect. It was not overcrowded. The restaurants are plentiful and served delicious meals with fresh seafood. Ferries are available for trips to local beaches. Watching the harbour fill each afternoon with amazing boats and yachts was great entertainment whilst sitting at a bar.

Symi is a most beautiful and friendly island.
Symi is a most beautiful and friendly island. Most people only come for the day but it has more than enough to offer for a much longer stay. I have now been three times (for a week) and have still not managed to visit the monastery! Perhaps next time...

Symi is a delightful island, a place you have to choose to visit as it can only be accessed via ferry from Rhodes. It personifies a typical Greek Island, born out of travel experiences anchored in the minds of visitors who first visited this region back in the day. The food is very tasty cooking, fresh food, served with love. There are cars here (ignore those who say there are none) and taxis are available, both via water and land. Most beaches have a taverna - a must-visit is Nanou with the goats and the best food I ate! If you have some limitations on yhour mobility be sure to check the accessibility within your accommodation (self-catering or otherwise) for steps, and also distance from the main port/harbour. The walking is great but be mindful of when to visit - this was a very hot summer and the weather for my visit in October was just right but still hot. I loved Symi.

We traveled to three Greek islands and Symi was by far the most beautiful and relaxing. Very magical and unique place to visit. The beaches were perfect and the area by the port has wonderful options for food and shopping.
The hotel, a beautiful, well maintained, traditional building, is located very conveniently over the port of Symi and is just a 10 minute walk from the center. The room we stayed in (triple room) is spacious, well lit, sparkling clean and has large, comfortable beds and a very nice bathroom (just as pictured). A lovely bonus feature is the really cute terrace/back yard, where a cafè operates, serving great brunch and drinks. The staff, both of the hotel and the cafè, was very friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend this place!
The house was fantastic I spent a lot of the time on the balcony watching the comings and goings in the harbour, the view by day awesome by night treble it. All the little simple things provided by the host lady that i have never had any where else in many years of travelling greece. The hundred steps from the quayside are worth every single one. I haven't even started to mention the town which also gets the wow factor. Silly things I noticed no rubbish bins anywhere but no litter anywhere and no graffiti. Will I be back YES.
This is a one room apartment, just a few minutes walk from the main harbour. Friendly host picked us up from the ferry and was available for any help, let us check out later than the stated time for free also. Good facilities- have a washing machine was great. Small patio with 2 chairs and a table. Lots of stuff needed like salt and pepper, washing power, shampoo already there. Most importantly it's Symi! So much love for this place, we had the best holiday.
We spent two nights on our honeymoon in this hotel. The location was perfect for Symi, and we loved the view from our room balcony. The room was very nicely decorated, and it felt very authentic. The check in and check out process was also very smooth, and our host Maria gave us great tips on what to do and where to eat in Symi. Would definitely recommend! Try to get room nr 2 on the upper floor, it has the best view out of the 5 rooms in the house.
Anna was a wonderful host. This was my first time going to Greece as a 25 year old girl. (My uncle and I made a vacation plan to see Greece.) She not only hosted me overseas, but she went with me to a few touristic places. She took me to a museum and to the Monastery of the Archangel Michael. She gave me a wonderful tour of the city. Of course, I was very thankful and felt like I belonged and a part of her family. Highly recommend!
Great location. Very easy to reach from the sea and by road with public bus from Symi. There is also free transfer from/to Symi town. Hotel is att the beach front with it's own facilities. Very good open buffet breakfast, nice restaurant. Clean, spacious room and bathroom..Super friendly and capable staff. We would especially like to thank miss Ourania Logotheti from the front office for her sweet and helpful attitude.
Nireus Hotel was like paradise! We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely return. The sea view room was idyllic and worth the little extra money. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was lovely and the hotel bar and restaurant had amazing views of Symi and it’s clear blue waters! We have no negatives for the hotel.
Wonderful suites faithful to the pictures, lovely owners, polite and willing to assist at all times especially with the move to the port as the location is found uphill and ascending the numerous steep island steps can be physically demanding especially in the midday heat. Very clean, peaceful and comfortable, definitely recommended.
The location of Kokona Hotel is very central in the harbour of Symi. Taxis cannot enter the roads behind the main harbour driveway but there are no steps to manage so it's easy to wheel your suitcase(s) on your own for a 2 minute walk. The breakfast is wonderfully varied and allows for individual customisation the night before.
Very comfortable, clean and large apartment right in the center of Symi. The apartment had everything from water, tea, snacks until several bathroom products, very thoughtful. The owners are super kind and helpful in any way. We will be back for sure and definitely staying at George & Marianthi’s place again!
Beautiful view of Turkey in the distance, especially from washroom. Traditional Symian house with good WiFi and free Netflix. Quiet location away from the busier part of town. Inexpensive nightly rate. For wine drinkers, two corkscrews were available in cutlery tray.
Gorgeous apartment in a great location. Host was super helpful and picked us up from ferry. Spotlessly clean with very efficient air con etc. Quiet but not too far out and very close to two of the best restaurants in Symi.
Loved the apartment and how it had ALL the amenities that any traveller could dream off. Location was excellent right by the sea …owners were very kind and helpful! Provided plenty of info and offers for my stay on Symi!
one of the best sitting out spots in Symi as it is nicely shaded. 60 steps up which is on the low side for Symi. communication is effective (through texting/booking.com) although the owner cannot speak English.
I was amazed by the cleanliness of the room and the good quality supplies provided for comfort.
everything has been arranged to ensure a comfortable stay.
Hotel is at the central and very close to port.
The hotel was so lovely and the staff (brothers) were so accommodating and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and our view was spectacular. The rooms were clear and large. We loved our stay at Asymi.
The views from the room balcony were absolutely amazing. Marvellous sight to wake up to. Loved watched the people below in the harbour meandering around and the to and fro of the boats. Perfect Greece!
I liked its hominess, its proximity to both Symi and Pedi, as well as to the town’s bus route and nice restaurants. I especially liked my hosts - Tasoula and Kostas.
