The isolated location was great. This also is a con though when trying to find the place. Just make sure you don't wait until nightfall to find it, and you'll be good.

Due to a family crisis, I didn't make it to Iceland this time, but my friend stayed here and sent this for the review
"Skyggnir was good! It was not high class but a little more old fashioned. However, it was comfortable, very well organized and tidy, very close to the hot springs. I greatly enjoyed meeting and chatting with other people from around the world there. It was a neat experience."

Centre of Fludir has grocery store, a gas station and 2 hotels - all four located very closely across the street. So we could get full tank of gadoline to drive further and wr had really good breakfast in hotel, but for the evening got some food in the shop. We didn't spend much time there and sayed only for one night driving through from one destination point to anothes as we dind't find any interesting object to visit in this town.

Fludir is a small village/town along Golden Circle. Perfect to break up your road trip to take more time to explore more of the area. Our kids loved the Fludir park with giant bouncy pad and zip line. We loved the delicious, authentic Ethiopian restaurant -Minilik, just a few minutes drive from the B&B.

I have stayed in Fludir several times- there really isn't anything to see here (aside from the Secret Lagoon which is great)! Dining options are also pretty limited.
I usually stay to be close to other things I want to see- it is close enough to KEF and Reykjavik to make both easy drives and also very close to the Golden Circle and Gulfoss to get an early start and beat the hoards of visitors coming in from the city for the day.

The biggest draw to Fludir is The Secret Lagoon, a geothermal pool fed by a spouting geyser. The facilities are fairly new and clean... and the lagoon itself is "to die for," very warm and relaxing.
I would highly recommend staying at the small guesthouse located on site - Garður Stay Inn. There is a kitchen, living room/lounge area, information table and a good sized shared bathroom, but only 4 rooms, so in-season it will fill up fast. We visited just past peak season, so had the guesthouse to ourselves!
My only "negative" would be the lack of open restaurants in the area.

We had limited time in Fludir.
We had limited time in Fludir. We did the tourist thing at the Tomato Farm and had a delicious pricy meal, and picked up some groceries and fuel. It looked nice. The hotel restaurant was good and the Ethiopian Restaurant was being renovated and may be a good alternative in the future. The town is well located to be a base for which to explore many standard tourist activities and even more challenging adventures for those that seek more.
Very new apartments in Fludir. We stayed in two apartments (one for kids and one for parents) and those were very convenient and clean. Everything seemed very new and worked very well. Check in and check our was without interaction (codes to key boxes by email) and worked smoothly. Owners were attentive and nice in email / booking conversations. Location is convenient for the Geysir area or as a base to cross the highlands via F35 north. There's a nice park next door with an air trampoline (good for kids). Very nice stay.
Rooms great size and had door from bathroom out into court yard where there is 2x hot tubs and sitting area. great idea don't feel like your in a hotel. we hadn't booked dinner or breakfast as I have dietary issues but chef was happy to cater for me. And food was really good. breakfast they do gluten free and dairy free just need to let them know. restaurant had amazing view of sunset.
This is wonderful place to stay for a night. Top of the tower observatory is perfect idea. Perfect to relax and watch the panoramic and sky views. Either day or night. We were lucky to get aurora (norther lights) off the bucket list. Amazing! Thank you for establishing this hotel and enabling us, tourists, to experience these views and exclusive accommodation.
Lovely place, easy to park there and not far from the main sights on the Golden Circle and within walking distance to the Secret Lagoon. The hotel room was cozy and clean and had everything we needed. Nice toiletries. The staff was very accommodating when we asked to have dinner at the hotel last minute. The breakfast is very good and varied.
The bed are really comfy, and the heated floor was extremly nice.
Breakfast is "buffet" style, with lot of options and a great quality.
The hotel managing the guesthouse was just across the street, and it was possible to use all the services of the hotel guest, included the hot tub, where the hotel staff provided us with ropes and towels.
The apartment is big, comfortable, clean and locates very well. You can go to geysir or gullfoss in 20 mins, also easy to reach the small shop, petrol station and some restaurants around Fludir. The environment is very calm. only a little pity that the weather was not so good during our stay, so we cannot use hot tub which is very special.
Location was good, apartment was not luxury but nice. It was in a large building with others. One day someone in another apt burned their food and set off the fire alarm. Bedroom was nice and the bed in bedroom was comfy. Easy parking out front. Bakery right next door. Close to the Secret Lagoon. Good stopover on way to Glacier Lagoon.
Close to the Secret Lagoon and around the corner of a wild hot springs. Breakfast was provided, just help yourself. The owners were very nice and live up the road. The living room had cool posters of Icelandic flora and fauna which was educational and surprising.
Beautiful, quiet and very peaceful location close to Fludir. Really nice place, clean, large living room and kitchen. This was the coziest, most beautiful accommodation on our 1 week trip around Iceland. Thank you so much. We had good time here.
- great location, remote, near secret lagoon
- kitchen with all facilities
- great place to spot aurora (if contions allow), no light pollution
- host lives at house nearby, self checkin, not disturbed
- heated floor, nice for walking
A lovely small guesthouse run by a nice couple. 5 rooms, super clean, 2 km to Fludir village and to the Sevret Lagoon. A must! The kitchen very well equipped, quiet at night, beautiful hills around. do not hesitate to stay there.
Home was well equipped and had lots of room. We loved being well positioned for the Golden Circle and just minutes from the Secret Lagoon. The host was communicative. It was clean and comfortable.
Lovely cabin on the golden circle. The cabin is well equipped and the hot tub was lovely after a day's sightseeing.
It's really warm and cosy. I'd recommend the restaurant in Hotel Fludir too.
