Montalcino is a quiet hill town that we love returning to often. We love walking all around town. A 4 hour hike gets you to Sant' Antimo Abbey and then you can take the bus back to town. We love eating at Il Moro and at Osteria di Porta al Cassero as well as Re di Macchia. Great town at the winter holidays!

We stayed in Montalcino two nights, which was about right for people who like wine but aren’t fanatics. Drove all over, got lost, went to Montepulciano (very crowded, steep and hard to get to—was very glad we stayed in Montalcino instead!) enjoyed the Abbey de Sant Altimo south of town, not overrun by people.

Our hostess Alicia was the best. Very accommodating and attentive.
I wish we had been given a room with a better view however all else was great. Be sure to ask for a room with a view. All restaurant and shops were walking distance.

a wonderful town for wine & food lovers. you can drink excellent wines for far less than they cost in the States. we also found excellent restaurants. the ambiance is really nice here.
in particular there is an enoteca with over 100 wines by the glass or taste and will ship the wines to you that you would like to buy. we easily found 3 cases to send home with free shipping!

If you wish to visit Tuscany, Montalcino is the ideal place to stay. It's a lovely, attractive village with plenty of places to eat and drink. This region also has a lot of good restaurants. It is nevertheless quite close to other important towns and sites that are far more touristic, so I would recommend this area if you want to have a lot of options without being in the most touristic and busy locations around.

Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants.
Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants. Right in the best wine area in Italy. You will love it! Re di Macchia Restorante was so good. The best Florentine steak we ever had. Good prices and the owner Antonio gave us round after round of free Limincello and grappa. He is the best!!!!
The proprietor and host - Simone, couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming. He was a real highlight of our visit. The room was rustic (as expected of an agriturismo), large and very clean. There was ample parking. We ordered the picnic basket for dinner (supper) after a long day of travel, and it was fantastic - cooked by Mom! We did the wine tasting on-site, and it is well worth the 18€. Naturally, we also left with a few bottles of excellent Brunello di Montalcino. We would definitely stay here again.
It looks exactly like the pictures, if not better! My boyfriend and I spent two nights here in August and have zero complaints. It is a small boutique hotel so there was one afternoon where we had the entire pool to ourselves despite it being busy season.
We ate dinner one night at the restaurant, and the pastas were the best we had during our entire trip. The staff are all so nice and very accommodating. I would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, romantic few days out in the beautiful countryside.
The location and in particular the view from the hotel terrace are stunning
Breakfast was good, stuff very helpful. The location of the hotel on the edge of the little town is perfect -
Allows you to drive up to the hotel and park your car.
Montalcino is charming, the perfect location, to experience the beauty of Southern Tuscany - it also has various restaurants, some of which are excellent and reasonable; again the hotel recommended two very good ones.
Location and views were even better than the photos appear. This winery is lesser known because it’s small but their wines are delicious & well rated and the villa is absolutely lovely! Staff are super nice, they helped us make great dinner reservations, and breakfast in the morning was the highest quality that we had in Italy. Fresh coffee, close to the beautiful town of Montalcino and other cute wineries, we can’t recommend this place enough!
Beautiful architecture and incredible rooms. The hotel is a cozy paradise in the middle of Toscana. The staff (Karla and Giulia) were incredibly nice and tried to accommodate most of our needs. They let us check in early (around noon), but highly recommend everyone else to try to stick to their 4pm check in time.
The staff here were the friendliest out of any place we stayed in Italy. The property was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. The breakfast was also delicious! The only negative I have is that I thought it was in Montalcino due to the address, but we had to drive 15 min to get to the square.
Every corner of the hotel is touched with attention to detail, loved the antique furnitures and the decorations. The location and the view of the landscape give just the authentic Tuscany feeling. Pool area is very cool. The beds are very comfortable. We recommend the vertical tasting at sunset.
Absolutely everything! The staff was welcoming, warm and professional in any extend.
Great location up the hill with a wonderful view and a beautiful space around the hotel. Our daughter was playing outside without any supervision.
Calm and serenity! We will definitely come back next year!
I loved the room and it's interior. Lovely touch with a rustic combination. The staff super friendly. The breakfast was delicious and we sat on the table with a scenic view. Wonderful experience. The town where the hotel is at is pintoresque and lovely to walk and dine in the area.
Great location near downtown Montalcino and gorgeous view of the wine vineyard. Had a tasting of the property's own Brunello in the tasting room. Great breakfast included and relaxing weekend lounging at the property. The team at the property couldn't be friendlier.
Super location, walking distance to the centre, cosy old building with atmosphere, excellent staff, parking arrangements, excellent breakfast for Italian standards, fantastic view from the hotel terrace, etc. Definitely a place to.consider for stays in Montalcino!
The hotel is set in a wonderful place, just some minutes from Montalcino, submerged in a very quiet landscape. The overview that can be seen from the room terrace is simply amazing. The breakfast also was enjoyed with a wonderful view.
Small hotel in the historic center of Montalcino. We really enjoyed the breakfast. We travel a lot, but we must say that we have found the best hospitality here, in this small hotel. Nida was amazing
Lovely hotel on the edge of Montalcino with a pool and terrace with views over the valley. Good continental buffet. They do not offer parking but if there is a space they seem to let guest park.
