    Great hidden gem.

Great hidden gem. Highly preserved and diverse Roman temples. The stone of The Pregnant Woman. The Shia Shrine of Khawleh (great interior and you don’t have to be a Muslim to go in, but dress code is strictly maintained). Great food, our favorite was a diamond shaped dough with fresh seasoned meat at the center. It is freshly baked/cooked right in front of you in small, hole in the wall, bakeries usually located right next door to the butchers in the bazaar to keep their meat fresh.

You go to Baalbek for the archeological site, which is magnificent. There is not much else to see - a Roman quarry, and an almost wholly destroyed temple site (to Mercury) on the hill- it can be done in a day trip from Beirut

Baalbeck has one of the most impressive examples of Roman architecture in the world. It is a small Sunni town with a busy thoroughfare (this is Lebanon after all). We missed the sfiha place, sadly, which is an absolute must do for it was there that it was invented, allegedly.

Unique historical monuments, great and friendly people despite political situation (17-19 October 2019), excellent food especially in baalbeck palace - chicken livers with pomegranate gravy you won't experience as rich in flavour nowhere else👍👌😎

This city is something that I would have never expected.

This city is something that I would have never expected. The people are incredibly friendly. Everyone was helpful and very happy to see us. Westerners don not tend to come to Lebanon, and after some amazing RACE driving, we made it from Beruit in less than 2 hours. What and experience. If you want to the one of the most impressive Roman constructions, Baalbek is the place to come.
