The staff at check-in and at breakfast were exceptional. The room was beautifully modern and we loved the bedding duvet. Everything was spotless and the view was gorgeous. The breakfast was way beyond our expectations. I have traveled quite a bit and I must say that the value for this property is unbelievable.

From the beginning, everything was perfection at Quinta Da Marka! Angela met us at the Ferrao train station with two vehicles to pick up our 8-person group, then whisked us up the hill to the quinta. The doors opened to stunning views, which immediately drew us out to a spacious terrace for surveying the spectacular Douro Valley from above. After touring the quinta, we sat for welcome drinks in the living room with Angela, who shared the history of the quinta and provided QDM wines and snacks. Every single wine was delicious!!! Too bad we cannot get them in the USA! Come prepared with space in your suitcase to take home some QDM wines.
Our group then enjoyed a delicious and satisfying dinner in the dining room before retiring to the lower level game room for more conversation and entertainment. Our rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast the next morning included eggs cooked to order, meats, cheeses, fruit, jams, bread, cereal, yogurt, juices, teas and coffee in the enclosed, heated terrace with sunrise views over the Douro. Angela arranged a private river cruise for us and provided free drop-offs and pick-ups at the train station as needed. When we arrived back at the quinta on the last train from Pinhao, kitchen staff was waiting for us and prepared food (we chose omelets from the menu) before they left for the night.
The remoteness of the quinta is a supreme part of its ambiance and beauty. The building, the terraces, the pool and of course the views in every direction are simply gorgeous. We did not need a car, as the staff always ensured that we had delicious food and drinks on site and rides to and from the train. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Quinta Da Marka and would love to return!
Featuring river views, Tomás Barqueiro in Folgosa features accommodations and a garden. This property offers a private pool, free Wifi, and free private parking.

Excellent staff! Very very helpful, kind, concerned. Always happy to accommodate any requests. Restaurant was nice food, again excellent staff. Efficient. My only suggestion would be to broaden the menu with more chicken options;) But lovely food. Pools, little farm with farm animals which my daughter loved, a little river: stream ran through thr property. They had an ice cream counter which was amazing 😅

This was the most wonderful stay, it far exceeded all of our expectations. I cannot stress enough how amazing our host/hostess were. I felt like I spent three nights among family and friends. The highlight of the stay were the meals. Sitting at the large dining room table and enjoying the wonderful and never ending combinations of appetizers, entrees, desserts and AWESOME port/wine & spice water. Rivaling the insanely good traditional Portuguese food was the conversation with the other guests, discussing what we did that day and our plans for the next day to just getting to know one another. A close second to the meals was the absolutely gorgeous accommodations. Our villa had several bathrooms, rooms, dining room, kitchen, deck (with panoramic views of the surrounding village and country side) in addition to a small chapel (yes chapel!) and a pool just out our door, which was perfect at the end of a long sunny day visiting the surrounding vineyards. The location is nestled in the heart of the Douro Valley just a short drive from; swimming in river or going on an incredible tour and tasting at any of the world-class wineries (Quintas) or simply soaking in some of the most scenic vistas you will ever see. In fact, my ONLY regret was that our stay here was at the very beginning of our Portugal vacation, as it set the bar SO HIGH nothing could rival it.
