Beautiful old well-maintained house with functional kitchen, ample space, and good facilities for either hand-washing clothes or using the laundry machine. Lovely dinner hosted by the caretaker who also facilitated a lovely discussion among the guests around the dinner table. Very pleasant.

Caminha, a fortified border town located at the mouth of the river Minho, where several battles were fought between Portugal and Spain, now has much more friendly relations with its neighbor , it is a nice place to stay a few days to discover the area, unfortunately the ferry that connects the two banks of the river, is out of service.

I have been taking holidays in Caminha for over 30 years so it is one of my favourite spots. The town is small and everything is in walking distance, packed with enough restaurant choices to keep you satisfied and very well fed. Around it there's plenty interesting things to see and places to visit, also more restaurants with more excellent food to enjoy. The proximity with Spain is also a bonus.

Great little town with a lots of culture and tradition.
Great little town with a lots of culture and tradition. As a pilgrim, there were not so many places to stay, but I met some lovely people there. I loved walking along the river Minho, beautiful landscape, fascinating architecture. It's a quiet town that is located on the riverbank of Rio Minho and you can cross the river by ferry to Spain.

CAMINHA is a very attractive little town especially the old centre which has a lovely bustling square !
Many decent reasonably priced restaurants.
There are lovely clean beaches & super views across the River Minho to Spain !
Ideally located for walking on the beautiful unspoilt Serra da Arga or along the coastline.
Easy to nip across to Spain on the cheap ferry.
Good train service to other interesting places.
The house is absolutely amazing, right in the centre of Caminha, 10 minutes walk from train station, which takes you to some lovely beaches & beautiful historic towns all within 30 minutes.. The house was spotlessly clean, lovely garden for a relaxing breakfast or a wine on the balcony over looking the quiet street.. if you like a walking or just getting out of porto or Lisbon, this place is for you.. I recommend the walk to the beach through the pine forest. The real portugal. Stay here you won't be disappointed.
The apartment was spacious with great views. It had all the amenities with a deck outback. We arrived early, and the host had just finished cleaning and welcomed us in with a smile. The host also answered the phone immediately when I called with any questions. The access to town was incredible and we were able to rent bikes and easily hop on the bike trails that went for miles along the coastline. Highly recommend this property.
I had a great stay, and highly recommend for pilgrims wanting a private room in caminha. I came in winter and there is only one scheduled transfer across the river, so host accommodated an early breakfast. I came down to dining area to a nice setting with everything I could have wanted. Easy walk to boat in the morning, no problems. Also had a cash bar for drinks, which I did not use, but very convenient.
Friendly woman welcome from Patricia. SHE IS INVESTING in more bathrooms and April 24 I found three men hard at work
IT IS between road and railroad but both went Quiet at 10pm despite my earlier fears. Kitchen available cafe and restaurant within 4 minute walk. Very close to Camino. BEAUTIFUL view from spacious terrace
The hostel was well licated, the staff was super nuce and everything was extremelly cleaned. I stayed in the 20-bed dorms and even though it is an open space it is fairly separated so you still have some privacy eveb thought it is shared. Plus each bed has a curtain, an outlet to plug devices and a good light.
Extremely helpful staffs, our bags went missing and the receptionist sorted it for us and we got them back within an hour! Lovely facilities too, didn’t feel like my partner and I were in a dorm with others, felt like we had our own space.
Organised taxis to boat for Camino too which was great!
This is one of the more special places where I've ever stayed. If you ever go to that part of Portugal, you have to visit this gem. It's a true experience, perfectly maintained hotel, wonderful owners and a gorgeous setting.
Central located ( 1 min from the boat to get to Spain), clean, comfortable. Kitchen with Coffee and fruits. To have the bathroom in the room was very comfortable! Will come again if I go Portugues per la costa again :-)
A few klm from town , nice and quite! Comfortable, clean with attention to detail. Very good breakfast. Spacious grounds with great hosts!
Hopefully we will be able to visit this property again!
great location. very spacious and you can tell that the host really cares about their guests. they had a beautiful breakfast and fresh fruit. would definitely stay again.
We were offered a pilgrim meal and a massage!
There was also a washer and drier available.
We were picked up in the morning to get the boat taxi to Spain.
