    We drove to Pinhão.

We drove to Pinhão. The roads are slightly terrifying but the views are spectacular. We were there in March so not everything was open. Best restaurant was Writers Place! The walking trails through the vineyards were fantastic!

The perfect spot to explore some of the lovely Quintas the Douro Valley has to offer. Would definitely recommend Pinhao as your base. We drove to Pinhao from Porto which was great for sight seeing and super easy. We visited the three Quintas that are within walking distance from Pinhao train station which were lovely. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance for dinners or lunch where possible. But we also did a few walk ins.

Pinhao is stunning. with good selection of restaurants in the evening. Beautiful wineries. As the wineries are built into cliffs the drive to Pinhao and around is not for the faint hearted. The roads are very narrow some without safety barriers. However if you can get past this it is worth it for the scenary. It is a sleepy village but everyone is so friendly. One or two days maximum is enough.

Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro.

Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro. Sleepy village atmosphere but with plenty of activities around the railway boat trips and quinta wine tasting. Some good restaurants. Wonderful views if you climb up through the village. Watch out for the dogs though - they are always enclosed but can be extremely aggressive.

The position of this hotel is breath taking and the staff are really helpful. Be careful when booking, some rooms are in the main building but some are away up and down a very, very steep lane. Not for anyone with a disability. We used the restaurant and although the food was lovely, we thought it was a bit pricey. It was good, but not that good.

The 2 bedroom apartment is vast and has a small balcony with a view of the Rio Pinhão. The beds are comfortable and Ana has made sure that we have everything we need to make our stay pleasant. The fridge and freezer were well supplied, we had a surprize cheese plate awaiting us, hot, fresh bread every morning, an extensive list of things to do in the area. Ana was kind enough to help me with suggestions for a special restaurant for Valentine's Day. There's also a washing machine. We're staying here again if we return!

Beautiful property, stunning views, lovely room with huge deck, great shower, good breakfast, friendly staff. Best of all, the person at the front desk went way above and beyond at checkout. When it was impossible to book a taxi to take us to our next hotel in the area (Pinhao is a small town with very few taxis), she asked someone to fill in for her and drove us there herself in her own car. We were so appreciative, but she graciously brushed off our thanks. What a generous gesture!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hostel. Pedro and Sara are great hosts. They make you feel as a part of their family. Pedro also provided several recommendations on restaurants and hiking in the Pinhao valley and helped with booking wine tastings. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The hostel also has a beautiful terrace garden with nice views. I highly recommend this place and look forward to visit them again.

The region is beautiful and the location of the hotel is very privileged. The views from the vineyards are breathtaking. Staff were friendly. We had a great experience at Cozinha da Clara for dinner and the breakfast served there was also good. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There was a file in the room with information about the region and the story of the winery which was interesting and a nice touch.

The view was stunning from our large suite that had two French doors and a balcony with seating room. There was a separate living room area with a television. The location was right next to our boat trip. The town is small and friendly and we stopped in a number of shops and restaurant/bars. The staff was helpful and friendly! Dinner at the hotel was delicious.

Nothing. We weren’t able to stay there. The property in no accessible. My partner is handicapped and there was no parking on the property or on the street anywhere near the property. It’s NOT a three Starr property. The owned still hasn’t answered my emails. Very dissatisfied with this booking. We ended up stay at another hotel for the evening.

Pedro was an awesome host. We very much appreciated his kindness, generosity, quick responses, and willingness to talk with us and share his knowledge of Pinhao and the surrounding region. He certainly deserves a 5+ star rating as a host. The facilities and experience made us feel right at home. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

The pool has a beautiful view. The hotel is newer and clean and the breakfast was good with a lovely terrace. Our large balcony was lovely in the morning. The evening staff was absolutely fabulous! She wore all of the hats; front desk, bartender, snack maker, tour guide and entertainment. She made our stop in Pinhao worthwhile.

This is a very comfortable classic hotel in a perfect location overlooking the River Douro. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, all with views of the Douro. The restaurant is of a very high standard, probably the best we have experienced so far on our tour of Portugal. I will recommend this hotel to friends.

A very nice place to unwind and relax in following some hectic days travelling. The apartment was close to the centre, spacious and clean with everything you needed. The terrace afforded fabulous views over Pinhao and the Douro and pool looked inviting, although we didn't use it. Breakfast included.
