I could easily stayed an entire week in Ataco and take more time to visit the nearby communities. The air is fresh, you hear birds singing in the trees, you see spectacular scenes of mountains scarfed in clouds, roads canopied with trees, tasty food and gourmet coffee. I was visiting with my kids during reading week. The poor kids were as stressed as any college student could be, and they had time to relax, recharge, and even managed to study a bit. I probably put on a couple of pounds eating "pupusas" and hot chocolate. The food may be simple as fresh vegetables or fruites or as elaborate as "gallo en chicha", the Salvadorean version of "coq au vin". Your time will be worthwhile at this idyllic town that could take you away from traffic, rushes, and never ending to-do lists.
