Only went there to stay at Acra-Retreat but the drive down the northern road of the N4 through Shoemanskloof was enchanting as we drove from Hazyview towards Johannesburg. Though the southern road of the n4 may be faster the Shoemanskloof Pass is a must see and easy drive.

We went to the Falls.
We went to the Falls. It was a bit difficult to get to due to having to brave a completely dark tunnel that goes for about 200m in total darkness. There is no form of security. The falls is really beautiful but the complications of getting there make it a bit hazardous. There were no dodgy people hanging around though and there were a few other people who arrived same time as we did and we went as a group.AAnonymousSouth Africa

They offered delicious food and our room war well equipped, for example with electric blankets in the bed, Coffee and tea accessories and a well filled minibar. Their friend and local guide Terry showed us amazing views in the beautiful surrounding of Waterval Boven on a short walk of about 90 minutes, such as impressive rock formations on the edge of a steep gorge, a waterfall and spectacular views over and over again.

Brilliant little bar and amazing host. Food was great after a drive from the airport. Our family suite was just perfect for a family with two teenage daughters. this is a brilliant spot en route to the Kruger. We could not have been made to feel more welcome and would highly recommend Acra to anyone who is looking for a warm welcome, great views and something different from big corporate hotels.
