Things to Do in Borovets
Borovets Resort
This modern ski spot sits on the northern slopes of the Rila mountain’s Mousala ridge, with pistes up to 2,600 metres above sea level. With mild winters and plenty of snow, the resort is best visited from mid-December to April. Try your hand at the many alpine activities on offer, such as skiing and snowboarding. In the summer, book yourself a hiking tour or mountaineering session.
Rila National Park
The largest national park in Bulgaria, Rila boasts over 100 peaks above 2000 metres, as well as a vast array of waterfalls, caves and canyons. But the impressive résumé doesn’t stop there. This majestic mountain range is also dotted with approximately 120 lakes – 70 of which date back to the Ice Age.
Mountain Bike Park
As far as biking in Bulgaria, there’s no better place to off-road than this pushbike paradise – the largest professionally designed bike park in the country. With over 20 km of marked levels for all abilities, the park also hosts international races. Test your skills on the 2,400-metre downhill trail, which will challenge even the most experienced of riders.

Very Good
We went for 3 days skiing and 3 nights, perfect length of time for intermediate skiers. Great night life with cheap beer, decent enough food and the slopes were brilliant for a few days.

If you have good fitness level, you can make it all the way to the top of Musala. I went there in winter and summer and I am not a professional hiker, but it turned out to be not that hard, but do train a bit in advance with other peaks. There is a spring you can get water on the way close to the top, right before Everest haven.

Yes! The queue for getting tickets for the gondola is not that long, nor is the line for getting on it. The maximum capacity of one gondola is 6 people. Take the condola and you will enjoy a great view. The city also offers good sights, when I was there - in August - it was not crowded at all.

Would be good to do more detailed maps for summer time walking. Routes were sometimes confusing and a decent map would have helped. Protect the area. Don't build any more. Have nature and bear tours. Make it more widely known which days the lifts and gondola are running in summer.

Musala Peak is just a days' hike or less depending on your speed from Yaztrabetz lift station round trip. The August season was great weather, small crowds, no waiting for gondola lift or service at restaurants.

The vegetables are fresh and the cusine is grate. And the price is fair.
