We found those in customer service very friendly and helpful. The staff at Cairns Queens Court were particularly helpful when booking tours on our behalf, they knew what the tours involved and on the occasion where we had an issue with the air conditioning in our room, quickly resolved the matter for us. Ferne and Donna and the other girls were wonderful, and the breakfast girls were always chatty and friendly while efficient.

Myriad species of fishes in abundance as well as the corals. It was surprising to see that the corals were admittedly not as colourful as depicted in brochures and pictures but it was still breathtaking nonetheless. It was exhilarating to dip in the Pacific Ocean to admire its natural beauty.

The mudflats are a popular spot for birders and also the Esplanade is sometimes visited by two-eyed fig parrots and fruit doves and a lot of waders. There was also a Rufous Owl roosting in a tree at the car park on the Esplanade.

How is tourism changing Cairns?

Cairns looks to me like it is going thru a change- it has a really beautiful community area down by the waterside- they have made a lot of family friendly areas by the manmade lagoon- the Marina looks fairly new - lot of tourist info centres to direct the tourist on what to see and do.
