Within 5 minutes walk of the hostel there's a lot of large shops, all of which seemed incredibly cheap as a traveller from the UK. There's also the outlet centre near the airport which was somehow even cheaper!

I wasn't prepared for the Field Museum. It is massive. Five hours clearly wasn't enough. We were only in town for 3 days - so we will be back to discover more! Great town. Clean. Friendly. Couldn't ask for more.

I did not see small businesses on Magnificent Mile, although that does not mean you cannot find little boutiques somewhere. For the most part, I would say it is brand names or designer stores.

On several occasions while we were walking through the city we had need of directions. Even at 10:00 pm a young lady stopped and found directions for us on her smart phone. We like to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ wherever we go and most everyone we spoke with about this was very receptive and appeared to want to hear what we had to share regarding the truth of Jesus Christ.

Food quality and service are important to us. We dined at the Chicago Cut Steakhouse. Food & Service was amazing. Dining is costly here but as my husband said, it was well worth every penny for the food, service and experience. The staff was wonderful. We also dined at Carmines (an Italian Restaurant on Rush Street). Once again, wonderful food and experience.

This is not my first trip to Chicago, but it was definitely memorable. Of all the major metropolitan cities, I feel like Chicagoans are extremely friendly and personable. We were there to make a trip to the American Girl Doll store. My 9-year-old could not wait to go there. Everywhere we went people asked her about her doll, and made her feel so special. We took in some sights as well as just walked around taking in the vibe both during the day and the early evening. The icing on the cake was when I accidentally left my phone sitting on the counter at the Tremont when we checked out. Our sweet cab driver offered to let me use her phone to call the hotel, took us back, and waited for us. It was all around a great experience! Now, I have a little girl who is totally enamored with Chicago! Can't wait to come visit again with the whole family!
