Its a very small place and the centre of the village is all pedestrianised so to really enjoy exploring it is best to do so by foot.

We are just back (July 2014) and Cochem was very quiet. When the daytrippers go home it is great to enjoy the old town without it being crowded.

People were more knowledgeable than I expected. On wine menus it also displays acidity and sugar levels which was interesting and made it easier to choose the sweetest wines.
