Stunning location to visit in March for the Northern lights, snow, husky sled ride and having an audience with Santa Claus, an experience not to be missed even if you are over 60. Wow what a location you need to add to your bucket list.

Culture in Rovaniemi is very traditional! The Lappish food and Sami traditions make it a very neat and different place. When walking around Santa Claus Village, there are open fires and comfortable traditional tee-pee style enclosures to tuck into and get warm while playing in the snow or shopping! :)

Definitely visit the Arktikum Museum in the city of Rovaniemi, very close by. It has Arctic history of the Sami people, very interesting!

For visitors, it's either Northern Light or Santa Claus or both. The locals are understanding and relaxing about it. They are friendly. They don't hate tourists even though packs of them flock into their town everyday. Impressive.

Definitely go to Nili restaurant in the city of Rovaniemi. It is the best restaurant in town with the most representative cuisine of the culture. Expect an interesting and different take on cuisine that you're used to though, but it's delicious. There is a bus that you can take from Santa Claus Village to the city of Rovaniemi or you can have the staff at the front desk call you a taxi that will take you into town for 20 euro.

The food in Santa Claus Village is poor, especially compared to the metropolitan areas of Finland, like Helsinki, which has amazing food. Santa Claus Village food is more for quick, on-the-go eating or for kids.

If you want to eat breakfast at Santa Claus Village, be sure to get there as soon as it opens, otherwise it's filled with people really quickly.
