Cafes and shops inside the castle were great to visit. Loved the market in the Centre Ville. Look for the trump d'oeuil on the house as you are crossing the bridge direct to the Place Gambetta. The Musee in Place Gambetta was free and very good.

Historical city, beautiful setting. Cobbled roads may be difficult for some but there's enough interesting sites to please most. Lovely French cuisine all around. Relaxing. many many open air restaurants to choose from. Bring your own tea and coffee though, no super ... Show more markets in old town! Show less

Carcassonne is interesting to visit for a day or so especially with kids. There are also some good restaurants surprisingly as the location is rather touristy, but not unpleasant.

Great view of the old town from the river bridges especially at night when the old town is illuminated. The old town is very cute but has been over commercialised and is very busy.

Cite was lovely. Saw it in an evening and again following morning. Just enough. Had a great lunch in town square. Boat trip from near station was a joke. Thank goodness it wasn't expensive.

The old city was beautiful, the restaurants amazing and beaches of Narbonne within easy driving distance. Also the airport is 10 minutes from the city so very convenient

Carcassone is a wonderful entry into the Dordogne region of France. It is less crowded and as charming as the South of France - plus it has vineyards!

Best of Carcassone

The food is very similar everywhere in this southwest region of France, but just because there are tourists in Carcassonne doesn't mean there aren't good places to eat in the walled city. Do your research on the cuisine and wine before you arrive and choose a place that looks inviting, most likely you won't be disappointed.

A cidade amuralhada, fora e dentro, é um espetáculo à parte. Vale muito a pena ver e entrar para comer, observar, divertir-se.

Go early we went in at 9.00 am had petit dejanur 10'e for 2 very reasonable left at 11 Was filling up by then

Medieval Cite, Canal du Midi, Ville Basse (market, restaurants, and le shopping!!)

Classic French dishes on every corner with great value prices.

Very well restored and kept castle

Get a map wear comfortable shoes

the whole city plus the castle
