Visit Saint Malo: Your travel guide

Things to do in Saint Malo
Saint Malo Citadel
With its ancient labyrinthine streets, bustling bars, restaurants and shops, Saint Malo's old town is a highlight of any visit to the city. It's almost possible to walk the complete circuit of the citadel's high granite walls. Once inside, visit the museum at the Chateau of Saint-Malo, or head to the Cathedral of St Vincent, which dates back to the 12th century.
Du Mole Beach
Take a break from exploring Saint Malo's walled citadel and relax on the golden sands of Du Mole Beach. Accessed by a series of narrow steps leading from the city ramparts, this small beach is popular during the summer with locals and tourists alike. A cluster of rocky islets is revealed during low tide, and the 500-metre pier provides a panoramic view of the city.
Le Mont Saint Michel
One of Normandy's most captivating landmarks, this historic island-commune overlooks the mouth of the Couesnon river. Located 600 metres from the coast, pilgrims used to visit the island's famous abbey during low tide, while the rising waters ensured it remained protected against would-be assailants. Three museums now recount the island’s storied past.

Exceptional
St Malo is a spectacular small walled town rising above the sea, it has many beautiful sandy beaches which surround the town. There are good restaurants and a selection of interesting shops. It is on the TGV route to Paris and is a sailing town with a long nautical history.

Recommendations for Saint Malo

Ramparts were in excellent condition and gave you a really good view of the old town. Lots of viewpoints along the way. Dog friendly beaches for much of the year and other dog walkers were friendly.

No point trying to drive round the walled part of the town, town walls are excellent, the promenade to the east towards Rochebonne and Minic is excellent and the beach fabulous.

Atmosphere, comfortable surroundings and a range of sea food that one can only marvel at. The quality of servive in the resaturants is exceptional.

Restaurant Le Borgnefesse - cote Sens - bistro de Jean - brasserie Chateaubriand.

Good walking. Beach on both sides of the town. in some cases very long indeed.
