Exceptional
The Capital of the region and lots of activities available to suit all tastes. Central for day tours to other places. It is what it is. Good communications by rail and road. For a small town it provides most of what folks seek in that area.

Recommended in Fort William

Ben Nevis; need I say more? Very good tourist path but almost guaranteed to be claggy at the summit so bring waterproofs regardless of the time of year.

Visited loch ness at Fort Augustu and Glefinon viaduct in heavy rain, but missed the cable car ride up Ben Nevis due to bad weather during our stay

The Crannog Restaurant on the pier serves fabulous seafood. We booked the week before - highly recommended to avoid disappointment

The shopping area is not very attractive but you are surrounded by beauty. the town has pretty much all you need.

Always carry compeed plasters nothing else comes close even if you've had your boots well broken in

Extremely dramatic scenery
