I don't think I have ever eaten so well for such little money. Anyone who travels to Vietnam, especially to Hanoi, needs to go with a good knowledge of Vietnamese food as there are so many incredible restaurants to dine at and so much street food to try. It's hard to fit everything in to one trip.

Can't comment on shopping facilities. To busy working and visiting the sites. Seems a shame to visit such an extraordinary city just to go shopping....

There is a street for every type of object! Shoes, art, jackets, clothes etc. The ladies in the markets are quite hard to barter with, they are not very friendly!

Street food vendors may not be able to communicate in English at all, but everyone is willing to recommend their fare to you. For your morning breakfast, there is a whole lot of dishes to choose from and they don't cost much.

We went to the Fine Arts Museum 5 years ago and it was a bit run down which was sad. This time around we thought that some money had been spent on it and it was great to see the displays clean and looking like someone cared about the beautiful things within!
