Booking.com asked travelers...What is it in Miyazaki that makes history come to life?
Going to Aoshima. The island is surrounded by rocks which they call the giants wash board. No one knows how or why they have appeared but story has it that giants use to live on the island and dug out the rocks with there fingers leaving racks of rock - which now looks like the old style washboards. Newly weds, long term weds and those who want to get pregnant visit Aoshima for good luck and blessings.
Booking.com asked travelers...What did you discover about the museums in Miyazaki that wasn't in the guidebooks?
The Science museum! It's a little whacky but I had so much fun. People in there don't speak much English but it didn't matter. 2 floors and science and space. Climb in the life size space shuttles. Put yourself in a bubble and watch the rainbows dance around you. Why not challenge a robot or even play music just by moving your hands in the dark!
