You can see all of luccaa on foot or by bicycle and also walk the 4km around the walls. We also did a day trip on the train to the cinque terre and walked between corniglia and vernazza, was a great holiday staying 3 nights in Lucca!

The intact city is small enough to wander around without getting too exhausted and feels friendly and safe, surrounded by the city walls. The architecture is fascinating.

on a sunny day, it is fantastic to walk over Lucca's city walls (about 4-5 km in total). It's also great to just walk into a random street in the old town, and discover what it has to offer.

We were in Lucca for a week, eating in one or two new places every day, and never had a meal we didn't enjoy. On the last night we ventured into the most touristy place of the lot - the Piazza dell' Anfiteatro - and enjoyed a dinner to challenge them all. Eat, drink, and enjoy!

I really recommend the restaurant DA NONNA CLARA at Via s. Croce 71, we ended eating there every night, we liked very much our waitress Cristina, and a young guy cannot recall his name.

Lucca is a living museum, and I mean that in a positive way. The town lives in, and with, buildings that haven't changed for hundreds of years. It's a step into the past . . .
