Why do you recommend Lyon for food?

Hands down, Lyon is one of the true culinary capitals of the world. I especially recommend the Paul Bocuse restaurants; one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. However, don't forget also the chocolate shops and patisseries. Bernachon and Voisin are, of course, fine examples in this category.

We had a go at the Planetarium which is a tad off the beaten track in what seems to be a run down area. The feeling was that the Planetarium is being used to somewhat upgrade the area or that it is a remnant of a once thriving area. We went on a Saturday so the entrance was free. What we did not know was that despite in the Museum there where captions in English with almost every exhibit, the actual show was totally in French. No shows in English apparently. It is not worth the money and the trip if you do not go on a Saturday and do not understand French. Better opt for the Planetarium at Greenwich in that case.

The city transport is very convenient. Using the well known carnet system you can travel anywhere around the city with ease. We also used the funicular to go up to Fourviere where the views were magnificent. Our favourite was the roman amphitheatre. Test the amazing acoustics if you dare!

Most buildings are already 500 years old. It is very interesting to see how modern day business, such as a sushi store, coin-op laundry, or barber shop fit in. City view is beautiful. food is fantastic.
