In all honesty cannot wait to go back. We also went to playa Del Carmen, which was a place that I would never return. Tulum- is for young people, families, group of friends that want to explore & have a nice adventurous vacation! It's relaxing yet with many parties ... Show more & events Show less

Monster growth in the past few years. About a 3-4 km walk or bike to the beautiful public beaches. Plenty of good restaurants and no shortage of the usual tourist trinket shops, with some high quality shops interspersed amongst them throughout the main part of town.

Eclectic international gathering place. Burning man at the beach meets coastal Mexico town. Terrific food scene and singularly unique crafts of genuine quality and artistry. Really unlike any beach destination vacation spot I have ever been to.

We brought our family (14 people) down for a week. We stayed in a private home, Casa Carolina, which is excellent. After a week, my wife and I sent the family home and spent 3 more days relaxing at Alma Tulum. Also excellent.

Tulum is beautiful - no high rise chain hotels, powdery white sandy beaches, turquoise water, great cultural sites, and great food!

Recommended in Tulum

The beaches in Tulum are chill and incredibly beautiful. No noisy spring breakers or rowdy kids to break the spell of the sun and water. Not crowded at all even during high season. The sand is soft, white and clean and the water is a beautiful Carribean azure. Great place for adults who want to relax.

The Real Coconut was one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at, anywhere in the world! Tons of vegan options for all meals of the day, and delicious, healthy smoothies and juices. Ate here three times and couldn't get enough of it!

I went on a trip with a tour company called Edtours, went to dos ojos cenote, a lagoon and akumal to see the turtles. Awesome I highly recommend doing a tour.

The restaurant few meters out the hotel heading to the Mayan ruins. It's expensive for Mexican standards but food and service well worth the money.
