Why do you recommend Osaka for food?

Janko, Sweden

7 days ago Report

Osaka is colloquially known as the "food capital" of Japan, and for good reason. The abundance and variety of good, affordable food - especially sea food - is quite simply staggering, as long as you're willing to take the plunge and eat as the locals do.

Especially around the Dotonbori area, restaurants are generally tourist-friendly (by Japanese standards), and usually have an English menu readily available.

Osaka is a good place to relax if you just want to experience the city life in Japan. There isn't much to offer in terms of nature trip but the city itself is bustling with places to visit. Also, the transportation is really efficient. You can practically get anywhere using their subway system.

Be mindful of the time the subway runs to. We missed the last one. We got a taxi easily but it was a bit pricey.

What makes Osaka the best place to max out your credit cards?

Gracelyn, Singapore

16 days ago Report

I was particularly looking for non international brands ( eg Armani, Prada etc - those you can get them anywhere - Singapore, HK etc). I was focused on shopping for Japanese designer clothes and reasonably priced made in Japan apparels and accessories. I found them all around Hotel Intercontinental and shopping areas / malls from Sinsaibashi to Namba areas - Dotonbori shopping, Daimaru, Takashimaya, Namba City and the myraids of underground shopping alleys that are found almost all around Umeda / Osaka Stations - near to Osaka Intercontinental Hotel.
