You absolutely HAVE to do Peruvian food (for some reason Chileans love Peru) and sushi. All the fish for sushi in Japan come now from Chile (because of Fukushima), so the sushi down in Santiago is to die for.

You can go tho Cerro Santa Lucía... From mon-fri, in the noon, you can see an actual fire of cannon from the top of the hill, in a little castle there. The view is amazing. And in the bottom there's one of the best cultural souvenir shops i've seen in Santiago.

On the way from airport the person next to me got off the bus at train station and bought me a ticket and showed me where to go and which station to get off. When I arrived at station another lady showed me where the escalators were then walked me to a police person to explain she is trustworthy and then she walked me all the way to the reception at the hotel. This was done with me not speaking Spanish and them not speaking English. I have found this kindness repeated throughout my stay in chile
