Pamukkale is a lovely small village with welcoming local people. There are some nice restaurants to find but you need to look around as due to the amount of tourists many restaurants are overpriced. The Travettines and Hierpolis are good to see.

During summer (july) the travertine was dry so no picturesque blue pools.

Large tourism push for terraces and Antique pool. Paid extra to swim 30 mins in pool as the only shady spot. I imagine it would be too crowded in high tourist seasons. Roman ruins worth a visit.

We want to visit the ruins in Pamukkale and Laodica. These are historical places attractive to Christians, The Hierapolis City is marvelous site for leisure and enjoyment.

Wonderful small town. Loved the white calcium carbonate walls. It was simply amazing to swim in the water and do Paragliding there.

Best of Pamukkale

We suggest you wear light clothing over your swimming costume. Your sandals will be put into your backpack as soon as you enter. we were sitting and splashing in the pools for quite a while. We slipped our light clothing over wet cosies for modesty and very soon we were comfortable and dry.

AMAZING. No other word describes this site. Unbeliveable nature and ancient ruins .. what an amazing package deal. Snow capped mountains in the distance, blue warm water amid snowy white calcium pools, incredibly well preserved ruins...its a photographers paradise

My secret tip is the following: if you want a refreshing break from the furnace and crowds of hell, look around the area where Hierapolians were placed on their way to heaven. And you may well find it...

Hieropolis is a UNESCO world heritage site together with the springs and the whole site is worth a day long visit. Do not get sold any tours from Selcuk, spend the night in Pamukkale.

Our favourite meal while staying at Pamukkale was a simple authentic selection of gozleme in a small local restaurant accompanied by traditional music.
