How can you enjoy the sights in Victoria while avoiding the crowds?

Travel by foot on the Coho (if coming from the states) or drive and park in James Bay area (plenty of free 3-hour spots), then just walk. The city is easy to walk, and you avoid traffic and parking hassles. Take one trip down Government and Douglas streets, then veer off to the sides. Better yet, head for small areas, like Oak Bay.

We took a tour of Victoria on the open top bus. Gives you an overall taste of the city. You can hop on and off all day. |Unfortunately, we were could only go on the last but one bus so stayed on for the round trip which we enjoyed. Would have like to stay in Victoria longer to see some more of the sights.

Earls is a fabulous restaurant - Chinese cuisine alongside the BEST steaks - something for everyone. Not a cheap option, but good value for money considering the quality of the ingredients and how well they were cooked. They also have week night deals on different drinks and cocktails which saves a few pennies!

We were visiting craigdarroch castle so had limited time. We did not realise Vancouver island was as big as it is. You need several days just to do the basics. We did not have the time.
