Shopping in Wellington is average to good. Wellington has retail ranging from high-street brands to high-end designer suit retailers and everything in-between such as boutique and used item retailers. Auckland probably has more retailers to offer the hardcore shopper but the choice is still somewhat limited and still marginally expensive. But if you want a shop till you drop experience then NZ is not the best place. The UK, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Australia all offer more in terms of retail and market shopping.

Being an older couple with limited ability to walk far we spent a lot of time eating and drinking coffee in some of the many cafés. La Boca Loca in Miramar is a great place.

We were walking in the street, getting a bit lost. A man noticed and offered to help without us even asking. He missed his turn to cross the road to help us!!

It has a buzzy vibrant arty atmosphere which is always changing. NZ Parliament is here. It is a great mix of old and new architecture. Even when the weather is appalling, it doesn't seem to hinder the overall experience.
