Things to do in Hazyview
Kiepersol Pass
This fairly small pass is located in the Lowveld between Sabie in the west and the Kiepersol farming area in the east. The road provides a slower, scenic alternative to a section of the much busier R536 and is accessed from this road at either end. The pass has a fairly stiff average gradient of 1:14 with the steeper parts being at 1:7. It is tarred and gains 179 meters in altitude to summit at 912m ASL. There are no inherent dangers other than the usual problem of mountain mists and the obviously dangerous consequences of reduced visibility.
Pick 'n Pay Shopping Mall
The Hazyview store also has an organic range to choose from. Pick n Pay was founded in 1967 as a family controlled business with only four small stores in the Western Cape. Today the Pick n Pay Group is one of Africa's largest retailers of food, general merchandise and clothing, with 775 stores, made up of Hypermarkets, Supermarkets and Family Stores, and all of these employ a total of 38 000 people.

Very good
The town itself is charming and definitely not short of eateries. There are a variety of Malls to let the overseas visitor feel at home while in the bush. Yet stepping outside into the summer heat and you are in no doubt that you are in Africa. It's great!

Exceptional
Where we were situated was close the all the shops and shopping centres there is everything though Hazeyview should look into improving their roads. They are an absolute disaster the potholes are disgustingly huge and dangerous for road users.

Recommendations for Hazyview

There was a gold rush in the area in the 19th / 20th century so many towns were developed around this. Pilgrim's Rest is a charming little place with buildings still standing from this period, and an old cemetery to explore from the times. Some areas, particularly the Bourke's Luck potholes, give a feeling of 'wild west'.

Driving around the Panorama route takes you through many beautiful mountains and forests, with breathtaking views. I'm sure there is good hiking too, but we weren't there long enough to try that.

Comfy bed, throw over my feet and a good movie, Cup of tea in hand. the following morning I had a chance to lounge at the pool side and play a little on the swing:-) relaxing!

Coming from Gauteng, the beauty of Hazyview is breath taking, the people are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Tomorrow is another day - no rush hours!

If you are in Hazyview, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Elephant Whispers and interact with them.
