Pilgrim's Rest is a charming little place with buildings still standing from this period, and an old cemetery to explore from the times. Driving around the Panorama route takes you through many beautiful mountains and forests, with breathtaking views. I'm sure there is good hiking too, but we weren't there long enough to try that.
