Days Inn - Long Island City Pleasant 6.5 We got in a night early, and even though the hotel was booked up, Sam at the desk found us a room. It was 3am and we were grateful. The price is probably the best that close to Manhattan, that I've ever seen. If I had read all of the reviews on here first, of this hotel, I might not have booked here, and that is unfair to this great little place. I'm writing this long review because my teenaged daughter and I had a GREAT experience here. The room was perfect, the bed really comfortable, the huge flat screen TV wonderful. We had a little mini fridge, and that was very handy, and there is a coffee maker and a safe in the room as well, and a fully equipped bath. We could only get a king bed due to the sold out situation, but it was huge, so we were fine. I want to personally commend Sam at the front desk on his guest service- he sat down with me and explained the subway system with the map in his hand personally, so there was no possible chance we would get lost. He went above and beyond, and I appreciated that, because my daughter was not feeling well. Long Island City (Queens) may not look like the best neighborhood but I assure you it is perfectly safe, as I am originally from NYC and hadn't been back in 9 years. And the location so close to Manhattan cannot be beat. It was 10 minutes to both Grand Central and Times Square on the subway. We forgot some toiletries, but it was no problem, because they had everything we needed at the desk. Rahul on the day shift was delightful, as well as Sam. We did not have the parking issue I read about on here about this hotel, since we took the bus from West Virginia- but I have to ask, who drives to New York City to stay in a hotel and expects loads of parking? This is not a Days Inn located at the side of some obscure highway, it is New York City. If you drive in NYC, you are nuts anyway, with the subway only steps away from the door of the hotel..
La Quinta Inn Queens Good 7.3 Even though it was right by the train, it was extremely quiet. The room and bed were very comfortable. I barely even heard hall noise; and I slept great! Being two blocks from the train stop & only a 20 min ride to Times Square was really nice.
Ravel Hotel Good 7.5 Free shuttle, free parking Subway nearby, very convenient to get to manhattan. Excellent staff. Good breakfast. Good restaurants within the area. Felt safe. Modern hotel. They upgraded our room upon arrival.
Ramada Long Island City Pleasant 6.9 Great experience great prince...
Best Western Plaza - Long Island City Good 7.7 We had a king size room with a city view (room 805) and it was fantastic. The bed was so comfy, I wanted to bring it home!!! If this hotel was in Manhattan you would be paying at least 3times more than what they charge. But it is so worth staying in long island city and getting the subway (2min walk from the hotel) into Manhattan. The free breakfast in the morning offers a wide variety and is delicious. Before we left for New York we were planning on where to leave our suitcases in the city on the last day after we checked out. But when we arrived the people at the desk told us they looked after them for free which was really really helpful. I was really impressed with this hotel, we will definitely be staying again in the future, I couldn't recommend more.
Sleep Inn - Long Island City Very good 8 Convenient location, stores and restraurants close by. Good breakfast....Metro stations very near.
Verve Hotel Very good 8.2 clean , quiet, easy to reach, value for price excellent near subway.
Red Roof Inn Queens Pleasant 6.8 The hotel was only 30 minutes away from Manhattan, located near Sunnyside Queens. Our room was big and clean and had no bed bugs! Bed bugs are a big problem in New York City, so we were very happy that the Red Roof Inn was clean! The wifi worked great and the free breakfast had fantastic waffles and coffee! We arrived early and had to wait a few hours but they kept our bags safe until we returned to check in.
Wyndham Garden Long Island City / Manhattan View Hotel Very good 8 - close to Manhattan (1 subway station) - very friendly&helpful staff - very clean - comfy bed - nice view - nice area with little restaurants and bars to calm down after a busy day in Manhattan - close to the river with a nice skyline view
The Local Hostel NYC Very good 8.5 Staff, everyone of them, was most helpful and geniunely care for you to have a good time in NY. Thanks to Aramie, Sophia, Rachel and Hannah are just so lovely. The bar offers great coffees (latte, capuccinos) and baked goods for breakfast. They would weigh the ground coffee to the gram before extraction. It becomes a cheerful bar at night. Overall, very clean. Very well designed Hostel. I felt safe and comfortable throughout my stay. Access to Court Sq Subway which is 5 mins walk away will take you into Manhattan in 5-7 mins. I also discovered lots of great restaurants where I preferred than Manhattan, all within walking distance. Try Woodbines & The LIC Market. I stayed for 8days as a solo travel. Couldn't think of anywhere else better for the unique and pleasant experience.
