The Booking.com affiliate program is a so-called "business to business to consumer" product. The affiliate partner promotes the Booking.com website (Booking.com branded or co-branded) with an HTML link on the Affiliate Partner website. Travel agents can use the Booking.com affiliate partner program. However, travel agents are requested to respect the following guidelines to avoid system errors and unnecessary cancellation of reservations.
Can I make a hotel booking for my clients using your affiliate program?
Yes, you can. However, to complete the reservation we must receive the guest’s credit card details and the guest’s e-mail address: a process similar to when the guest makes the booking him/herself via your website.
Can I ask my client to pay to me directly instead of paying the hotel upon arrival?
No, this is not possible. We have made agreements with all our hotels which include the procedure where customers pay upon arrival at the hotel. You cannot prepay the hotel yourself or contact the hotel yourself to arrange alternative payment.
Can I change the room rate (mark-up)?
No, Booking.com is different from a "tour operator product." At Booking.com the hotels provide us with their room rates. We act as an intermediary between the guest and the hotel. For this reason, you are not allowed to change the room rates in any way.
Can I charge a booking fee?
This is your own decision and it is possible to charge a booking fee. However, if you would like to charge the customer a service charge or fee for booking a hotel, such charge shall be made in accordance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations. Second, your travel agency shall be responsible and liable for (the collection and repayment of) the charge made (including any customer complaints in this respect and the remittance of applicable taxes). Furthermore, your travel agency shall unambiguously notify and inform the customer that the charge is made by and solely for the benefit of your travel agency.
Can I book rooms and sell them in the future?
No, this is not allowed. All hotel bookings can only be made at the very moment your client wants this to be booked (real time). You are not allowed to make reservations in advance, without a client specifically requesting a room. If you do make hotel bookings up front and cancel the hotel bookings afterwards, when you have not been able to sell the room, Booking.com shall terminate the affiliate agreement.
If I make a hotel booking on Booking.com directly and not via my Affiliate partner account, can I receive a commission?
Unfortunately we cannot allocate commission for bookings which are not made via your own affiliate account. Please make sure all bookings are made via the link which is provided to you by your account manager, as your personal ID code is only then included in the booking.
Can I integrate the link to Booking.com on my website?
Yes, this is the aim of the Affiliate partner program. Please make sure your affiliate ID is included in all links to Booking.com.
Can I make group bookings via Booking.com?
Booking.com is not a group booking specialist. Our website and product is developed for independent travelers and unmanaged business travel. You can book as many rooms as you wish via your affiliate account as long if you have real clients requesting these rooms and bookings are made via the customer’s own credit card, using the customer’s own name and email address. If you are looking for professional and specialized group booking support and assistance we recommend that you contact a company specialized in group bookings.
