Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. They also helped us arrange the most incredible trek in the jungle. A very unique stay. All of the staff was attentive, the cook was very sweet and made great meals, and everyone really paid attention to our needs and safety during the trek.

The family, who runs the place is super friendly, polite and helpful. The beds are big and the mattrass is firm and grwat to sleep in. The bathroom isclean and modern.

At the guest house, each unit is fitted with bed linen and towels. What a pleasure it was to stay at Cheeky Monkeys! Everyone here was so friendly and so kind, and with its lovely setting overlooking the river, you’re really in a world apart. I only did the 3-hour jungle trek, but saw the orangutans and Thomas leaf monkeys. My guide, Bambang, was not only a wealth of knowledge, he patiently told me where to place each foot while winding up and down and through jungle roots, vines, and muddy patches. Such a nice man! The transfers from Medan and back to the airport were flawless and the drivers excellent. As for the accommodations at Cheeky, descriptions here are accurate. Food was good, the impromptu guitar after dinner was fun, and the WiFi connection in my room was much better than I expected. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back in the future.

Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace. This is a big charming, wooden house unlike anything else we saw in Bukit Lawang. It’s beautiful and has a lot of character. The location is great, up many stairs but it’s worth it. Close to nearby restaurants and ‘Jack’s Bar’ which we loved for live music and awesome cocktails in a real jungle setting. The staff are so lovely and helped us with everything we needed, they organised a trek into the jungle for us and a day trip to their conservation site where we saw lots of orangutans. Banana pancakes for breakfast were so delicious too, thank you Ridho! Highly recommend staying here!

The guesthouse is calm, clean with a direct access to the sandy beach. The owner and his wife are very helpful, patient and flexible in helping us to book a ferry/Taxi. All the staff is polite, friendly and always present at the guesthouse. Surfing boards, surfing lesson and scooter are available. The views are amazing directly on the ocean and the jungle. The food is fresh, handmade and delicious.
