The apartment is adequate for a short stay, but lacks charm or comfort. Don’t be tempted to think the location is walking distance from Sandakan city centre though - it isn’t. You will need to use Grab to get to and from anywhere (with the possible exception of the English Teahouse). Grab cars are cheap, so the cost isn’t an issue, but it adds a layer to anything you might want to do.

This is a true backpackers hostel, with emphasis on common areas, so just be expecting that. The shower/toilet rooms were a bit cramped but again, is what we expected. Staff friendly. Breakfast is very basic, just bananas and toast. Area around hotel looks a bit rough but really is OK.
