Island Life Hostel is located 200 metres from Alcázar de Colón square and 350 metres from Casas Reales Museum. It features a swimming pool and free WiFi in public areas. I chose this hostel specifically because I was travelling solo, and the thought of meeting others and doing things around Santo Domingo sounded and looked perfect (from photos and other reviews). All the staff were great to deal with, personable, and the owner Chris was also very easy to talk with, we had many a chat about English footy. I probably should've seen more of Santo Domingo, but I had such a good time with the people I met, it made it worthwhile. Highly recommended.

It is in a safe area, very close to the colonial party of old Santo Domingo. The owner is very kind and can also give you food.
