Staff were extremely friendly and their english was excellent. They were full of good ideas and tips to make our stay more enjoyable. Even made us dinner when we arrived at midnight! You can't park your car near the hotel, there are 300 steps to get from the car to hotel (and back again with suitcases!). All a good bit of excercise though! |

Value for money seemed good compared to other places on the Amalfi Coast. The views were amazing, good breakfast, large, clean room with air conditioning. We were very happy. We really liked the location, but we found it difficult to find information on how to get there on the internet, as they don't have a website and it isn't really described on booking.com. FYI: from Amalfi's bus station near the port, catch the Poggerola bus. Ask the driver to stop at Excelsior hotel and from the car park there are steps leading down. |

The service was excellent and exceeded my expectations for friendliness of staff. There are 300 steps down from the carpark to the hotel but the views are spectacular once you arrive. The room was spacious and clean and breakfast was great. Was a little hard to find. We found the Le Palme restaurant in town that gave us good directions. |

Very nice and friendly service. Owners really care how you feel. Lovely view over the sea. Location is not for children, under 8 at least. |

Everything. It has a great view of the bay and Amalfi. All lemons around make it absolutely unforgettable. Excellent service. If you are looking for not an anonymous place, but a place where to breath for a while the Italian family touch, I would recommend it. You can go down to Amalfi on foot (around 25 min.). Be aware of the steps, but don’t be afraid, it’s worth to reach it! |

The views were great and the staff was super friendly. We didn't print out the directions to the hotel as we have a GPS and assumed they would show up on the GPS, but the address doesn't exist on the GPS (they are also in Pogerola) so we had some trouble finding the hotel. We were totally fine with the steps to and from the hotel without luggage, but the trek to Amalfi from the hotel was a tad long. |

The view was fantastic from the hillside of Amalfi. Was quite a hike to get there from the road - about 300+ steps down, but in fairness, many B& Bs would have to be similar in this area. We're pretty fit, but would not advise older people to stay, unless very fit for their age. |

The location of the hotel was incredible. The views from the rooms are amazing. The young couple who operate this hotel do a fantastic job in making you feel welcome. The jacuzzi tub was appreciated after hiking around the Amalfi area all day. The breakfast was excellent and served on the terrace which offered up the same amazing views as the rooms. |

The room was large, clean and beautiful. The view was phenomenal. We had difficulty finding the place. Then there are the steps! We decided not to go back to town in the evening because the thought of doing the steps overwhelmed us. |

I liked the friendly personnel ( a family ) good and friendly service - luggage were carried up and down the 250 stairs! Breakfast was served til 12 o´clock every morning Not suitable for older people or families with small children due to steep stairs - 250 of them! Please, change the pillows! |

The staff was so friendly, they treated us like family. The free breakfast was exceptional, so delicious and you get to eat outside on a balcony with a gorgeous view. The long walk down the steps into Amalfi Centre was beautiful and very enjoyable, as well. However, make sure you take the bus to Pongerola during the daylight so you can find the steps at Hotel Excelsior to walk down to H.H. |

The hotel and, in particular, its manager provided a wonderful reception and made great efforts to be helpful. The hotel has a splendid view and a good layout. You just need to be comfortable with stairs. We heartily recommend the restaurant Le Palma in Atrani, run by the manager of the hotal. |

We enjoyed our stay. This is a beautiful location .There is a lovely friendly happy atmosphere in the house. Antonietta and the family were very pleasant and helpful. Our suite was lovely with breath taking views from every window.Try the resturants in Pogerala, very good and very reasonable. It is a nice country town with lovely views at night. This is only suitable for active people with a sense of adventure as the only way to get to the hotel is by driving (or getting bus )to Exelcior Hotel and then walking down 300 winding steps. or walking up 700 plus steps from Amalfi. The staff will meet you on arrival and carry your case |

Definitely friendly Staffs, who were willing to help us. And also comparatively good price, considering the reagion. Breathtaking view from dining place is one of their many good points. 1. Location, location, location. This hotel is located in the middle of two roads, which can be accessed by climing up 300 hundreds steps upward or 400 hundreds steps downward. So if you have a large suit case, like I did, it could be a problem. However this hight allows you to enjoy the great view to Amlafi Coast. And honestly, their food was ... I liked them a lot. So I won't write any more. |

The views were wonderful and the staff were very friendly. The walk to/from the hotel was quite strenuous, however, on visiting Amalfi a local bus can take you to a suitable location to minimise efforts. |

The hotel is more like a Bed and Breakfast. Most of the guests stayed a couple of nights but we were staying for two weeks on our honeymoon, the owners upgraded us to thier suite a lovely little apartment on top of the house. The hotel is a family run affair and very charming and intimate. The staff were friendly, helpful and made our stay very relaxed and enjoyable. We really enjoyed our stay. The only issue may be the steps for some older people and families. The hotel can only be accessed via steps so flat shoes and timing your trips out are essential. |

I loved the view and the room was lovely. The staff were excellent and were always helpful and friendly in particular Antoinetta.Everything was perfect - there are alot of steps to get from the hotel to the centre of Amalfi but this did not bother us and we appreciated the exercise. |

everything!! the staff (family) were the best! so friendly, welcoming & very happy. the cappacinos from antionella were fabulous, the inhouse food was great, the location was the best on the amalfi coast, the views are spectacular. everything about our stay was charming and we stayed another day on top of our original booking because of this. new pillows would be our only constructive feedback. apart from that everything was great! some reviews complain about the 300 stairs to walk up but if you jump on the bus from amalfi to pogerola, get off at hotel excelsior & antonella will meet you there & you only have to walk down some steps to the hotel! much better this way! |

Asides from the stairs, it's in a perfect location when you want to feel like you are visiting a friend's home. The staff is excellent and amiable. The rooms were immaculate and have a proper air conditioner which you will need. Everything is worth the beautiful view that you will get at any point of the day. The hotel is a bit difficult to reach because of the 300 steps from the top or 700+ from the beach. So if you have children, too much luggage or not willing to work out, don't stay here. This is a hotel for someone looking for some adventure and peace & quiet as it is far from the noice. |

Friendly, helpful staff; great rooms; and truly stunning views. The steps make the hotel inaccessible for some. Ideally, you need to have pretty good fitness and a backpack rather than a suitcase. |
