Loved the heritage and idea that I was sleeping in a royal residence. Would have liked to have known if I had slept in the queen's or king's room. Loved the location, beside the metro. The pillows were awesome. Loved the triple sheeted bed. Appreciated the shampoo & conditioner.
No hot water. No toothpaste. Impossible to watch TV in bed. Had to check behind all the curtains that any possible windows were locked, but found out the curtains were decorative. It was very late and I was very tired. Perhaps the attendant could tell the next weary traveller. There was no attendant when we left for the day, so I had to leave my room key, as the attendant had requested in the opened glass cupboard. this made me feel uneasy, as any one could have retrieved the key and entered my room. Was not aware the hotel had airport pick up. Paid 64 dirhams to get to the hotel. Waited a long time for scrambled eggs to show up at breakfast. Was disappointed not to find a mattress protector pad inbetween the fitted sheet and the mattress.
the location was interesting
smelly, musty towels, room dark
Beautiful old heritage building. Large, comfortable rooms done in traditional style. Close to the metro, the heritage village and the creek. Amazing on-site restaurant. Good breakfast. Gym and swimming pool can be used at nearby hotel.
Love being so close to the creek. Beautiful mornings and evenings. Close to green line. Very friendly staff.
Room was never serviced. Once. Asked for service. Nothing. Attached restaurant was good but a bit pricey
It felt like the location was too central/open with people from outside playing right outside the room
traditional Arabic style house located in the Heritage village right alongside the Creek. No cars so very quiet. Bus and metro station within walking distance. Also nearby is the old souk and abra stations for the gold and spice souks. You feel very much part of the local scenery.
plain breakfast which needs to be pre-ordered. No atmosphere in the restaurant.
Location Cool inside Very friendly staff Good facilities 1 minute by boat to the souks Two minutes to the metro Quiet and spacious Good value.
Nonereally. Didn't use the wi-fi. Mattress ever so slightly hard - but that's being picky. Must have the phone number with you so the taxi can find it. We saw it before the taxi driver did.
Staffs are very helpful and the location is very close to Bur Dubai and Creek.4 staffs i meet in reception two philipino boys one girl and one Indian boy all are excellent and be helpful in all the spots. The style of the room is also great Old model Indian Doors, furniture and ceiling its looking great. Well cleaned towells and bed linen.
Not enough staffs in the hotel i can see the receptionist working as waiter, housekeeping and all and all. Mostly a one man show even they are doing there job very great
it is the excellent place on dubai creek heritage village..only 8 rooms..all are good.terrace on the 1st floor is more than good.we can see dubai creek and souk..well connected to metro just below hotel..love it.the GUY DER mr. JC was too good
I liked everything...go and experience it..i have booked again for december
good location by the waterfront, good furniture, heritage look, well maintained garden with shisha tent, metro only one minute away
staff is not always there to take care of things. i guess there are only 9 rooms,so not much staff. but if you want your room cleaned and leave for an hour it might not be done when you come back.
kindness of staff
The poor services due to low number of staff.
Great place, easy access to the metro, friendly staff. loved the place.
The manager is awful to his staff.
Access to the river taxis, underground and buses. Saw the traditional side of Dubai
We really struggled with an airport bus and a taxi to find the place.
Housekeeping did not clean up the room.
Above all location at the heart of old Dubai with excellent walks along the river.
Internet site needs more precise instructions to find it ..especially in the dark. Above all which metro exit to use and then precise instructions. The Guest house does not have an iluminated sign at the back and the bgeardens between the Metro and the Guest House are not well lit.We exited the wronbg one and no one we asked knew where it was! Result instead of 2 minutes walk a one hour search involving a taxi driver and Arabian Court Hotel!!
We were allowed to check in early. Location, service and food were good.
They didn't have our room that we had booked available for the first night. Cot was not in a safe state for babies to sleep in.
Great Arabic-styled room, air-conditioned, restful, comfortable, with complete amenities in Old Dubai. Next to Al Ghubaiba metro station. Amply-sized bathroom & shower. I'd stay again.
Loved the authenticity of the building and experience. Easy access to the Creek, Old Dubai and Souks. Staff were friendly, professional, helpful - quickly and easily booked a number of activities for us. Good air con. Clean, tidy and attractive rooms. Right next to metro station, so many areas of Dubai easy to access from this location. Water-taxis also a short walk from Guest House - a great way to travel. This is "Old Dubai" style - so if you are over the hype of glitzy hotels and excessive everything - this is an ideal authentic experience.
Would have been good to have informed us that we needed to drop keys off at office in order to have room service. Staff were lovely, but there were not enough staff - which meant one staff member had to organise our airport taxi while also making breakfast for another couple. This didn't seem fair, though the staff member did it all with a smile on her face. After a nap on the bed with the windows open, I discovered some security cameras face the windows.. this seemed a bit intrusive.
Excellent location. Two minute walk to metro and bus. So central to creek area. Rooms spacious and clean. Only downfall for me was staff knowledge/ guidance for tourist
Lack of information on tourist guidance. Staff very helpful and most of all the location in the Creek area. Thank you for enjoyable stay in Dubai.
The location was excellent. We used the water taxi and the metro. Both close to hotel and easy to use. Liked being in the old part of Dubai. The restaurant serves nice food.
Very hard for the taxi driver to find the entrance
Excellent decor and atmosphere! Lovely location.
Breakfast could improve!
Location on creek, and steps from metro, was strongest positive. Room was comfortable enough, A/C worked well. Spacious bathroom with good water temps and flow. Reasonable price. Hotel was kind enough to grant our request for a comp breakfast for our first day.
For us, the negatives outweighed the positives - and this from travelers who prefer to stay in B&Bs and guest houses rather than luxury hotels. Staff support almost non-existent. For a place this small you would expect some personal touch. We got almost no useful info on check-in, and found it almost impossible to locate anyone on most stops at the office (particularly annoying when rushing to catch a plane on departure). Even a sign saying "ring this number" or "look in X room" would help. Rooms have some character, but not enough. Nearly no natural light (at least in the room we got, which appears to have been the least desirable), but on the other hand some vents that cannot be blocked so you get woken by the sun every morning. The metro rumbles below every few minutes - not enough to keep you awake, but it's there. I thought the one breakfast we had was awful: uninspired eggs, frozen hash browns, inedible pastries; we found much better value outside. Overall I had the feeling this was some government functionary's idea of what a heritage inn should look and feel like, and it just didn't work. In this case, I'd rather have paid more for a high-rise glassy hotel with pool and all the conveniences, and just gone to visit the old quarter.
Historical touch and heritage environment
Rooms are generally well appointed. The area is quite atmospheric and the hotel courtyard quiet.
This property is infernally difficult to find. The map does not do it justice so I will attempt to make it easier: Either find the Dubai Museum and follow the road around until you come to what looks like a petrol station(but isn't. This is opposite the Ministry of Finance. There is a carpark here and the Barjeel is one of the low buildings as you walk along the river bank towards the Heritage Village. Or find the Heritage Village and walk through it to the creek and turn right. Walk along until you find it. Nobody, including taxi drivers can find it. The hotel will quote a lot of landmarks that they know well but, as a newcomer in a strange area, coping with heavy traffic and people who walk across in front of vehicles with impunity, you are not likely to find. If you have a car you can expect a lot of waiting for a space OR the Arabian Courtyard Hotel will take your car and park it somewhere separated from you. This is inconvenient but free. Wifi is annoying to say the least. It connects and disconnects up to 10 times per minute. Breakfast has to be ordered for a prearranged time the evening before and you give in the order then. Meals are provided on the roof but food is nothing out of the ordinary. The shower did not drain away and I had to ask someone to come and sort out the television. Yes, I agree with the reviewer who noted the position of the television is not conducive to watching it. I wouldn't stay there again because there are hundreds of other places offering better facilities and, if I want old, I want it to be properly old, not made to look that way in the original shell.
The staff and atmosphere were exceptional-- very attentive, friendly and responsive; location was excellent to experience historic Dubai; restaurant was very good-- service, food and roof-top dining was perfect and very pleasant for evening "people watching" on the corniche, fireworks and boats cruising on the creek... An excellent value and certainly would strongly recommend if like the personal bed and breakfast atmosphere and you want to get a touch of historic Dubai served up by a great staff... Mr Chaudrey is commended.
Room was very dark, even with curtains open; position of TV on wall made it impossible to watch from bed; had to ask several days to have clean towels brought to room-- quick response; we stayed in room 101, the small inner court yard needed to be swept daily, despite the strong winds, a sweeping everyday would keep it clean and free from trash.
