Desert Islands Resort exceeded all expectations. The quality and cleanliness of rooms, attention to detail and the location were A+. The staff member from Desert Islands Resort named Denise who greeted us and gave a tour of the resort really made us feel welcome and instantly at ease. Her high standard, friendliness and professionalism set the stage for a wonderful trip.
Very Slow room service
I loved the safari tour. Great exprience.
Activities are too expensive. I remember the safari used to cost around 100 dirhams per person. Now it is 245 dirhams. I was told the price will go even higher 45%!
Breakfast spread, the staff friendliness, the decor of the hotel and generally relaxing ambience, the view, free wi-fi, the wildlife safari, greenery, the boat ride.. Could go on!!
Menu at the Samak restaurant was very limited, the shower wasn't working well(no hot water and wasn't fixed even when we asked so) , the beach isn't really for swimming.
We thoroughly enjoyed the 3 day break spent with you ... your staff are superb, especially Maria who couldn't do enough for us - she's a STAR! Our room was MAGNIFICENT and the food was delicious ... thank you for everything :):):)
The long drive down from Dubai!
we liked everything, very special thank to Mehreen at the reception. Wishes: add free windsurfing (often windy) supermarket - .... Gala and Alex
My baby girl enjoyed the wildlife safari and also was very comfortable at the resort. Loved the pool and ambience.
The location is very far from Dubai. The beach in front of the hotel is very rocky.
I loved the flower drink upon arrival The hotel in general was very nice Loved seeing the falcon in reception The safari was good and staff too Olio food and staff was excellent
Too much noise from other rooms and the music in the corridors Operator was virtually unavailable most of the time that I called The food at Samak was poor to the say the least. The quality of breakfast at Palm restaurant was average
The nature and surroundings
We loved that it feels like you're a million miles away from home and busy city life. The island is so peaceful, the activities on offer kept us busy but there was still plenty of time to relax poolside. The staff were all very helpful and we had a brilliant weekend.
We were upgraded to a one bedroom villa, since our room wasn't ready in time and the AC wasn't working. Safari was amazing.
It's a very long drive. Better to take a plane.
power outages, moldy rooms
The attention to detail from all the staff at the resort was better than anywhere we have stayed. The bell boy who tried to help with room changes with all the proper follow up as well as the personal attention from the head chefs at both at the pool bar and at the breakfast restaurant, who dealt with each food requirement - vegetarian, gluten-free, seafood allergies was incredible. But this is no surprise as the General manager himself is down to earth, helpful and very warm. The high level of service starts from the top and resonates all the way down the the very last person working at this hotel. Definitely a repeat holiday.
Over all the location and property is very nice. The front end staff is very courteous
I think the room service needs to better, almost for every request we made we had to remind then twice. Also certain items in room service menu were not available which is quite strange for a 5 star property. Also food choice was limited
Location Swimming Pool Rooms Services Kind staff
limited number of water sports and some are not available during the week.
location with safari, the room, the pool, and breakfast.
the bus used to pick us up at the port was very dated; something used to transport laborers to a construction site. Also, many of the cushions on the pool chairs had rips and holes in them. That should be replaced. Also, the meat in the buffet grill was poor. It was clearly frozen and re-frozen numerous times. The rest of the food was good though.
Wifi everywhere. Literally! Nicest staff ever The pool! So many activities Beautiful scenery Comfy rooms
Restaurant choices quite limited for dinner (either lebanese or seafood). Something a bit more international would be good. Not enough activities that include kids. Most activities have an age limit of 6-8 and above (kayaking)...Nothing of for the younger category except for the safari drive. We had 3 years olds and we couldn't do any activity without having to leave them in the hotel
Everything, especially the safari. Huge island with unexpected treats, a great split between relaxation and activities.
Nothing to complain about, at our evening meal the service was very slow so we left. However the restaurant manager sent us champagne and room service with no prompting, was very impressed.
Cleanliness, staff and the beach.
Rooms were not isolated enough. i could not sleep during the day due to noise from the staff cleaning other rooms and walking in the corridors.
Hotel upgraded our room to superior on arrival. Lovely room with balcony overlooking the pool. The hotel was very quiet when we stayed with probably on 20% occupancy.
1st day room still not made up at 2pm. Arrived at 3pm, said they had forgotten us. Pool side loungers were ripped and rotten as were the parasols. Not acceptable at a 2* resort let alone a 5*. Manager's response is that they are hoping to change them this year!!! Not the standard of other Anantara resorts and hotel.
The staff was extremely friendly and very welcoming. The view is amazing! Our room was gorgeous (try to get rooms in high floors for a better view). The breakfast buffet is very nice and we cannot recommend the poolside bar enough! The spa was also superb! We definitely recommend the couple's package.
The bathrooms in the dock could be cleaner, and the women's bathroom did not have toilet paper (or any tissue for that matter). The room service was very disappointing: the food was not very good, we expected much better. One time, our order took a while to get to the room and when it did several things were missing. Also, the room doesn't have a directory or anything to tell us what numbers to dial to get to different departments. We had to dial 0 and then ask for room service or whatever it was that we were looking for. Some of the movies on demand did not work (minor issue, but still a little annoying).
