Great small guest house. Helpful staff. well furnish rooms, very peaceful.
The only thing I did not like was the Baskins and Robbins ice Cream stall in the courtyard, which spoilt the authentic look of the old house courtyard.
The traditional building in the old area of Dubai was exactly what we wanted
Couldn't fault the hotel or staff. There are some inconsiderate guests who check in later on and forget people may be in bed
Good location for a short stay just to visit old part of the city. Located in a quiet area. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice courtyard area where the breakfast is served, although must be too hot in summer to eat theare.
Below our expactations. Standard of B&B with a price of 4 stars hotel. Poor breakfast. First day bufet breakfast with little choice and quantity. No fresh vegetables like tomatoes and cucumbers. Fruits tasteless. No espresso coffee , neither water. Room too dark with low lights, too small and too high windows. The walls dirty , needed to be repainted. The door of the room locked with lockpad. The bathroom outdated.
Great location and value for money were the main reason for choosing this hotel. It is also in the old quarter and oozes old world charm.
The (female) receptionist is not particularly friendly. The breakfast was precooked and was in front of me 2 minutes after I sat down. It was luke-warm and badly presented. Tea and coffee are in a thermos on a sideboard and you help yourself. Last time I stayed there it was cooked to order.
The location was perfert - easy walk to the Old Souk, Dubai Museum and the stop for the hop-on hop-off bus. We especially liked the inner courtyard where breakfast was served and in front of our room. The hotel provided a tranquil spot away from traffic in a more traditional style building.
The low (one-story) building in traditional style, small number of guests, interior courtyard, outside terrace on top, location close to the souk. We were on the upper storey and the room was nicely furnished and clean as was the bathroom. We arrived early (8:00 am) and were told at first we would have to wait until 2:00 pm to have the room (unfortunately, after 20 hours of air travel from New Zealand) but then the wait got shortened to 12 noon which was much better. So we left our luggage there and walked around in the souk and had some lunch next door in the meanwhile.
The only thing I would mention here is the outside lock on the room door: a padlock, which made us nervous someone could lock us in. There was no other way out of the room than through the very solid door (good luck breaking it down) as the windows were barred and the drop way too high in any case. They should put a normal lock on the door so you don't get that trapped feeling.
Comfortable bed. Room and bathroom very clean. Fresh high quality sheets and towels every day. Room warm, after turning AC off. Staff pleasant and efficient. Staff appreciated being thanked in Tagolog.
It was January so breakfast in the courtyard could be chilly. Some doorways narrow when carrying cases.
need more instructions
only accommodation in dubai with old arabic flavour . It is a must for visitors
A lovely stay at a great spot, not far from the metro. Staff was helpful and nice.
Clean bed linen every day Close to old town & souks Quiet with nice courtyard outside room
Shower could be better
The location, the price - we stayed in a hotel just next door the previous year which was 4 times the price and exactly the same! We will stay here again. Its accessible via public transport and its amazing waking up in the historic Al Batakiya area. You feel transported into a world from 1001 Arabian Nights.
We didn't like the fact that the WiFi wasn't very good on the top floor where our room was. It also feels understaffed.
- nice place - close to town - very traditional look of the guest hotel - close to the heritage building - very good staff
wifi signal are so weak. need improve
Location in the Bastikiya is great if you are looking for a traditional local look and feel and want to get away from malls and driving.
I was on the second floor and heard a lot of street noise plus there is a mosque in the Bastikiya and many nearby, so expect to be woken before sunrise and continuous calls on friday.
Location in the old area very quite near the creek space out side room to relax in.
Breakfast not included should be for the price.
The Guest House excellent location within 10 minutes of the main souk or bazaar. Also good heritage surrounding and ambience including valet parking services at its subsidiary hotel.
There was scarce staff and probably one person handling the chk-in counter as well as baggages etc. There should be facility to bring in your car/cab inside (off the road footpath) to offload luggage if any.
location and staff were good, breakfast as well. We liked the place very much for its location as it is in the old district of Bastakia, close to the Creek, and for its authentic looks.
the bathroom is outdated. More can be made of this hotel to make the two courts more attractive.
the traditional building and its location
cramped space on one side of the bed & no bedside table on that side
Too bad that the night guard make a long and loud phone conversation in the patio, and this in the middle of the night.
It's a great double-courtyard traditional house, with birds for soundtrack and no city noise. It's utterly peaceful. There are loads of things to see and do in the area, from Bastakiya to Shindagha and on Dubai Creek into the sea. It's just lovely. Great place for writers and thinkers.
Probably just the overuse of A/C though most people wouldn't complain, and it was adjustable. The shower's water tank maybe. I don't recall on my previous trip if hot water was slow to come, then again I would always get up last!!
Very comfy Arabic themed hotel, ambiance is great, staffs are very helpful, location is at the heart of Dubai City.
The proximity of the city souk and main bazaar (not malls) and good reasonable rates
Wifi was poor within the rooms, staff was scarce and overused, (same person for reception n service), no temporary entry for parking to unload n load baggage
*nice air-con in the room, and very tidy! *neat location, right in heart of historical block!
due to hot weather, difficult to sit out in courtyard...
Near the Soukes and in the old quarter of town, set up like and old house with nice courtyard, can be quite hot.
Five in the morning calls to prayer, can be heard quit loud.
