Perfect location close to the castle, room is really big with an amazing view of the mountains!! Breakfast is simlle but good, if you wanna coffe just ask for! The owners are really friendly and helpfull, we has to leave early and they serv the breakfast for us 6 am!
Wi-fi is really bad!
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Wanted to make sure we had everything we needed and that we had fun. Really clean and tidy room and bathroom. Quiet place and our room had a spectacular view of the city. We also really enjoyed the typical breakfast. Thank god you did not have to get up early to have breakfast as it happens in many other hotels, but you could have it whenever you woke up (which is really important for late-risers and sleep lovers). Overall, really good service. Would absolutely recommend it to other tourists visiting Gjirokastra!
Excellent location, polite staff, really clean rooms.
There was no central heating. When it's -5 outside, a small clima cannot do much. If you don't have a problem sleeping with your coat on it is great.
the location is perfect, right under the castle with amazing views on the old city, in the heart of the historic center of Gjirokaster. The new town is at a walkable distance, about 10' away. Staff is very friendly and speaks Greek-and English too- and the breakfast is homemade and delicious, served at any time!
we booked two rooms, one had balcony and larger bathroom and the other not, but both had the same price. Not fair. There is no central heating, so rooms are cold, but there is air-condition. Rooms were modern and furniture brand new, but the pics showing a traditional living room and bedroom were probably from another building (?). It was very modern(without that being bad), but we waited for a more traditional-looking guest house. one tip:if you come by car and use GPS be careful not to lose the roundabout in the central road that leads to the historic center. If you do so, return back to follow that route, because the next available on GPS will lead to to very narrow cobblestreets dangerous for the car.
Location just above the old town and below the castle, very clean rooms
The shower! It's in Albanian style- no curtains whatsoever (as you can see from the hotel photos), so the whole bathroom becomes wet after a shower. Wifi was a bit unstable and slow
incredible period room with modern bathroom. Staff were very good, even calling the owner of the Zecate house when we tried to go there to visit and the gate was closed. Breakfast was excellent and served with homemade fig jam. The owners didn't speak English but their family did so we exchanged friendly nods often
no wifi in the room was a struggle even though there was wifi in the restaurant
Very nice staff, clean room, nice breakfast and great location
We were so lucky we choose this beautiful hotel for our stay in Gjirokastra. Runned by a family who really knows how to take care of their guests. After a warm welcome we were given our room that simply couldn't be better. This hotel is in a beautiful traditional house. Very charming! A big big plus for the excellent breakfast! We could see they are making improvements and will have more rooms ready for the next season and would like to take the opportunity to wish them all the best. Do not think twice. This is the place to stay while in Gjirokastra. Hope to come back one day!!
Very good location Big rooms and comfortable Very clean Great view Local-style house Quiet and safe neighbourhood
The staff does not speak well English (but they put great effort and get the basic message) Bathroom without bidet
The location near the old fortress.
We have booked and thus payed for a room with 4 beds. We had a tiny 3 beds one, very dark with two narrow windows on a courtyard. In the morning there was warm water for only 2 persons. Toilet damaged. No coffee in the breakfast - Only Albania tea
extremely clean, ambience, view from terrace, staff.
Toilet was very sensitive as to how you flushed it; if it wasn't done in a precise manner the water will continue to run. also water from the toilet will seep out onto the floor when flushed, just a small amount.
The location, close to the bazar and the castle. Friendly staff. Public parking opposite the hotel. Garden area in between buildings. If it is available, definitely go for the suite room: great decor and views!
It is a handicap that only the son of the owner speaks English; the rest of the staff does not and we don't speak Albanian....
Unfussy, but quaint hotel in a renovated old building, high up on the hill overlooking most of the town. We were given a warm welcome before being given a room that had apparently been previously used by the U.S. ambassador. It was everything we required and had a fabulous vista as the sun came up lighting up Girokastra's roofs below is in the morning. Breakfast was largely composed of homemade produce too. A true slice of rural Albania.
The friendly owners of the hotel. Beautiful hotel.
Excellent breakfast, nice location, quiet.
Shower did not have a curtain which they argued was standard in Albania unless you book a fancy room. Beds were hard as a rock.
Everyone was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. And a beautiful location.
Beautiful views from the windows. Very clean rooms and bathrooms. Wonderful breakfast. Comfortable parking place.
Very nice house, comfortable interior. Clean tidy environment. well equipped. Rich and delicious breakfast, The owner speaks English. I recommend to everyone.
Do not hesitate, this is a perfect accommodation.
Everything. Friendly helpful staff, good food, location, nice rooms with lots of local antique pieces.
Just the weather but it was not the hotel's fault.
Location both close to castle and historic centre. Very nice terrace. Friendly owners.
Great location for visiting everything worth seeing. The suite on the top floor is the best value. Very large room full of old world architecture and wonderful view. Fantastic breakfast included in the price.
A little challenging to get to if driving. The streets are steep, narrow, and difficult to navigate when full of people. But that is part of the old world charm here.
