Tirana - Such a modern city for a non-EU capital
Tirana boasts a diverse architectural landscape that mirrors its historical evolution and rapid urban growth. The city's structures showcase a fusion of Ottoman, Italian, Communist-era, and contemporary designs.
*Ottoman Legacy:
Some of Tirana's older districts retain traces of Ottoman influence, featuring characteristic elements such as mosques and traditional architecture nestled along narrow streets.
**Italian Imprints:
The Italian occupation of the early 20th century left an indelible mark on Tirana, evident in the construction of grand boulevards, squares, and buildings reflecting fascist aesthetics, like the Palace of Culture and government edifices surrounding Skanderbeg Square.
***Communist Footprints:
The communist era ushered in monumental projects characterized by utilitarian, block-like structures. Examples include the Pyramid of Tirana (formerly the Enver Hoxha Museum), standardized apartment blocks, and the Blloku neighborhood, once exclusive to high-ranking party officials.
****Contemporary Trends:
Recent years have witnessed a surge in modern architectural endeavors, with the emergence of sleek office towers, residential complexes, and infrastructural enhancements, signaling Albania's aspirations for modernity and integration with Europe.
In sum, Tirana's architectural tapestry offers a captivating narrative of its multifaceted past and dynamic present, inviting exploration and appreciation from aficionados of urban design.

Full trip was good and people were friendly. but at the end...
Full trip was good and people were friendly. but at the end during taking the return flight, I fell victim to a new type of scam at Tiarana Airport in Albania. When I ordered coffee at a cafeteria, the price displayed was 1080 ALL (where 1 ALL equals approximately 0.0097 Euro). However, upon paying with my bank card at the POS machine, the shopkeeper deceitfully charged me 1080 Euros. Although I noticed the amount of 1080, I failed to verify the currency on the POS device, assuming they would charge in the local currency as usual. It was only upon returning to my home country that I realized I had paid 1080 Euros for a product that should have cost around 10.60 Euros.

Tirana is a great city it has a lot to offer great sights especially the main square Skanderbeg and the Pyramid is good, you must climb it when you visit. These kebab shops and restaurants all over the city and food is quite cheap for English tourists. If you have time you can do a day trip to Durrës which is only 35 minutes by bus from the airport costs Lek 600 one way. For an unpopular tourist destination Tirana deserves more positive attention, because it’s interesting. These plenty to see and do and although traffic is busy it’s got a relaxing atmosphere.

What a vibrant city Tirana is... so many things to do, we went on a free walk and found out a lot about the history of Albania and the city of Tirana, really friendly people, so helpful... 5 days was not long enough, would definitely go back.
The room was very nice and spacious with a lovely view on the garden. The hotel is perfectly located in a calm neighborhood in a walking distance from the main attractions. The breakfast was amazing and with a great deal of choice. Last but not the least, Adela is an incredible host, very kind and helpful, she suggested many places to visit and restaurants to try in Tirana as well as in other cities that we planned to visit.
Garden Boutique was the best possible welcoming to Albania 🥰
Very nice hotel, spacious beds, and amazing breakfast. The reception is more like a concierge than a simple reception. They can help you with literally anything!
At the restaurant you will find food just like any Michelin Star rated establishments.
The location is right in the middle of the City Center, and you have all you need in walking distance, eg: Shopping mall, restaurants, pharmacy, groceries, fresh market etc.
P. S - Best Steak in town is also found here!
The host was AMAAAAZING!!!! She organized an airport pick up, gave us a mini tour around the city center before dropping us at the apartment. She delivered the keys in person and kept in touch with me throughout my whole stay not only in her appartment but in Albania which was MAGNIFICENT!! The location of the apartment is also pretty good for doing some tourism in Tirana and for having a drink late at night too! 100% recommended. If I go back, ill stay there!
Very nice room with a cool balcony. It is a small boutique hotel very well located. It is just a short walk from the Tirana Castle, the Air Albania Stadium and lots of fantastic options to eat. Neighborhood is super safe so we could walk any time without any worries. Staff very helpful and we strongly recommend booking your transfer in/out the airport with the hotel. The driver was super nice and gave us valuable tips on the city and the country in general.
I spent 3 nights in this hotel and i wanna say that this is the most helpful staff i have ever seen, they helped me finding my passport and getting it back from another city, the place is really nice the rooms are clean and comfy i would definitely go there again and it's the best choice if you want to stay close to the airport far from the crowded city of tirana, special thanks to the reception guy who helped me get my passport back
Definitely, the best thing about this hotel is the location. You are in the center of Tirana, close to everything.
The room is ok. We had private bathroom and it was outside our room. They said it was private but it was accessible from other rooms and you could not lock it, so...
The staff are nice and the breakfast was ok.
They let us keep our luggage there until later, which we appreciated a lot.
I stayed there for 15 days it is the best hotel in the heart of Tirana, located in the city center (perfect location), everything is nearby. The hotel is clean and provides you great hospitality. The receptionists are very helpful and will guide you throughout your stay. Overall experience was awesome. I will recommend this hotel to everyone and families. You wont regret, just be there.
Hotel has a perfect location, in the city centre, 10 minutes walk from Tirana bus station (shuttle to Rinas Airport). Our room and bathroom were very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The staff is professional, helpful and nice. Breakfast was absolutely excellent! We had an absolutely pleasant and comfortable stay. The hotel has a facilities for disabled people. I truly reccomend it.
I reserved the apartment for one day with my friends and everything was perfect. The apartment was clean and spacious with everything needed inside. The location next to the city center and a free parking near the apartment. The hosts were very kind and helpful with everything we needed. We would absolutely choose this apartment again for our next trip in Albania !!!
My stay at Hotel Deluxe in Tirana, Albania, was fantastic! The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the rooms were both stylish and immaculate. The hotel's location made it easy to explore the city, and the amenities and a delicious restaurant, added to the overall positive experience. I highly recommend Hotel Deluxe for a great stay in Tirana!
It's the best hotel in Tirana! I have touristic agency and visit many hotels in Albania. Mulaj is the best. Very clean, perfect and cozy rooms. Perfect staff and very good breakfast. Super view from balcony, close in center if Tirana. Really first time I see so good hotel in Albania)) thank you so much!
Excellent location with free parking. Comfortable room - though a bit small - with good A/C. Unlike some Albanian hotels, staff is helpful and eager to please. "Gourmet" is the correct word for the free breakfast (though a second cup of coffee will cost you).
I would stay there again.
Staff were very helpful and it is great walking distance location from sightseeing and night life. The hotel has a tour agency that is very good. We got a tour from Tirana to Kruja and it was amazing, it was a best experience that we had in Albania.
Perfect location to explore Tirana, right in the middle of the city centre. Breakfast was very delicious. Everyone at the hotel was very nice and they even arranged a taxi for us to the airport on our last day. Really enjoyed our stay here!
best hotel of the trip. Great location in the center of Tirana, still with private parking. Breakfast was incredible, really incredible, served on the rooftop with view over the city. Rooms also very stylish. Staff very nice and dedicated
Best location, within walking range to all the main attractions in the city centre, the staff were really helpful and did their level best to make my stay comfortable . The hotel was so clean to stay. Definitely coming back!
Needed an accommodation for my first night in Albania and I decided to be a guest on AS Tirana Hotel.
Spent the night in a wide room with pretty nice view on the City. A bit overpriced but I would come back.
Stylish and clean rooms in a quiet place 15 minutes by car from the city center.
Probably one of the best hotels in Tirana if you don’t mind the distance from the center.
Very kind staff :)
