The building and grounds are lovely, really atmospheric and the courtyard was a nice place to relax with a book in the afternoon. The restaurant is excellent, though I'd advise asking for the waiter's recommendation rather than trying to figure out the menu on your own. We had a great 3 course dinner with wine, sampling a whole range of Albanian cuisine, for just €30! Our room was comfortable if a little basic.
I really wanted to love this place, our 2 night stay was part of a trip around the Balkans and I'd been looking forward to Tradita based on all the reviews, but for some reason, and I'm still not sure why, ilmost of the staff seemed really cold and unfriendly to us. I don't know if it's because we turned up with backpacks and they see themselves as too good for 'backpackers', but they seemed disinterested from the moment we checked in, gave us no information e.g. when breakfast was, introduction to the town etc. It was a shame, we were nothing but friendly to them, and we are a professional couple, not rowdy gap year students, but our experience here was completely at odds with the rest of our time in this friendly, welcoming country.
