Aconcagua Hotel  

Very happy with our stay at the Aconcagua. Had all the facilities that we needed though would have liked the option of a hot breakfast included in the breakfast buffet.

The staff at reception were some of the best I have ever encountered. Just a slight shame the rooms were dull and in need of some attention and not of the same standard as the rest of the hotel or the staff.

Location

Hotel Aconcagua is very dated (80's) carpet throughout and again dated. This Hotel should "NOT" be given 4 star rating.

Situated in the heart of Mendoza, with one side (our) watching the pleasant Plaza Italia, the hotel is quite a good place for visiting the town. There is a large swimming pool on a terrace and a cozy patio. Rooms are O.K., as well as breakfast and the service generally. Hotel also has - quite an exception in Argentina - an extensive library with Spanish and also English and some German books.

Such a big hotel could have some CNN or other news channel in English (not to mention German or other languages). Also its staff could have improved their knowledge of English. Unfortunately, the same situation is in majority of hotels in the region.

The hotel was really nice, we took the corner room. Hotel people are nice and friendly

They are using kind of plastic glasses non-ecological, is not an issue but I'm worry about the contamination. Also the extractor in the bathroom was not working. The breakfast was always the same, but nice. So, no big problems.

The service breakfast was good and the working team too.

The room was old and the bathroom too.

Too much noise at night.

We arrived in Mendoza at 10am in morning after an all night 13 hour bus ride from Buenos Aires. The hotel staff where very friendly. One of the hotel staff, Leonardo spoke to us in French when he realized it was our mother tongue. We were able to have an early check-in and Leonardo arranged a private bicycle tour for us in the mountains of Potrerillos. It was perfect since we had only one afternoon to see the Mendoza valley. Although the decor and furniture is very retro 60s the room was very large and clean. Free breakfast was pretty good - better than most free breakfasts in Comfort Inns or Holiday Express etc. Overall Very good value for money but don`t expect luxury. Perfect for a short stay.

The website advertised "personal hot tub" in each room. This "hot tub" is really an old bath tub with noisy jets. We had to ask for the bath tub drain plug in order to use the so called "hot tub". They obviously do not want to encourage guests to use the hot tub by not leaving the plug in the room. This was somewhat of a let down when you are expecting a jacuzzi but it didn't not bother us since everything else was just fine. There is a huge shortage of water in Mendoza so I can understand why they do not want to encourage people to use the hot tub but why bother advertising that each room has a personal hot tub in the first place? We didn't choose this hotel for the hot tub.

Apart from the corridors, the environment of the hotel was attractive and appealing. The staff were faultlessly courteous and helpful, and the restaurant truely excellent.

The view of the mountains from our rooms was fantastic, the breakfast buffet each morning was delicious with lots of different things to choose from, and the hotel's restaurant was fabulous, with a menu from the parrilla to die for. I must say that the staff was the frosting on the cake. They were so helpful and kind, always willing to answer all our questions and point us in the right direction. They were always welcoming, which really made our stay that much more pleasent. I would highly recommend this hotel. The corner suites are very roomy and gorgeous.

The rooms are a bit on the smaller side (except for the corner suites), but this wasn't an issue for us since we didn't spend much time in our room.
