Great location. Well maintain old hotel. Clean and staff is friendly. Salta is a lovely region with a lot to discover.
Classy old (1943) hotel right on the corner of the central plaza. The polished hardwood floor leading to our room was a pleasure to behold. Better than average breakfast in the hotel's dining room. Enclosed parking.
The steps leading to the second floor were closed off with cheap, white, wooden doors that seemed to serve no useful purpose. The beautiful stairwell at this level was hidden behind equally unaesthetic panels. What a thing to do to a national historic monument!
Staff very helpful, room was large and comfortable, location is perfect in the main square. Breakfast is great.
Amazing location, great staff, great hotel
(1) Location is fantastic (2) The hotel is very well done up aesthetically
(1) Didn't find the staff at the reception particularly friendly, though they were professional and business-like (they smile less, that made us feel a little less welcome) (2) Though we had placed a written request through your site for a room with a good view, ideally facing the square or the church, we were initially handed keys to a room with an average view. Only upon insisting, we got a better room (# 317) (3) The room as such was very tiny and not well planned (or laid out). There was a wardrobe, a bed and bedside tables, but apart from this, there was hardly any space left to park our luggage and we were international guests travelling in South America for more than 3 weeks. We could have done with a bit more space in the room. (3) The bathroom was a disaster. The shower area was too small and the shower curtain did not stretch all the way to the floor. As a result, the water would go out of the shower area and flood the entire bathroom. Not good planning I am afraid. Would recommend the hotel management to seriously relook at the room layouts and space planning, and keep in mind the needs of international travellers who might be arriving with bigger/more luggage than those from Argentina or the neighbouring countries. If there are wardrobes for the luggage, the shelves should be wide enough to accommodate larger pieces of luggage. Throughout our trip in S America we stayed in standard sized double-bed rooms, but we found the room size at Hotel Salta unusually small. (4) The last point concerns the breakfast. Again, the buffet spread is ideal for beef eating Americans, but not ideal for guests from South Asia who would perhaps like more options in chicken and vegetarian cuisine. Overall, not the finest of experiences, and because of the past reviews and photographs of the hotel, we had expected a really good stay.
The location. Breakfast - good selection of bread, pastries, lemon meringue pie etc. Good coffee. Double aspect room, so good views. Room staff very helpful. Restaurant staff friendly and attentive but it seemed quite short-staffed at times, so they were quite rushed.
The laundry came back the same day, beautifully ironed, folded, hung, etc, but it was still really damp, especially of course the cotton or linen items. So we had to keep hanging the clothes in the windows, and leaving them on the window ledges, etc, to dry them off.
Nice place and architecture. Very comfortable room.
Location and view from our top floor room overlooking the beautiful old church
Making the reservation with bookings.com who make a virtue of saying that you pay later and as the parallel dollar is trading at 50% over the official rate it was important to me that we paid in Peso but the reality was that the hotel charged me in US$ at the point I made the booking and would not credit my card !
The location near the main square is excellent.
This hotel has seen better days, all is antiquated and in need of renovation. The breakfast is not only boring, but with plenty of flies, everyday is the same things, not even an egg in any shape or form. The furniture, just like the hotel needs to be replaced. This hotel should be a 3 star at tops, but because of the location the rated in higher.
Close to plaza with good view. Safe area. Staff available at all times for entry to hotel.
Slightly noisy a street side.
Hotel was very central. Staff were very accommodating very late at night. Secure car park.
Our room was a little tired and very small. We were only there for one night so it wasn't an issue but if we had been staying for longer.....We arrived very late about 3am and had great difficulty in finding the hotel as there is very poor signage! You think that the GPS has taken you to a car rental office......but you are at the hotel as well!
Breakfast was buffet style, lots of choice. Staff were helpful and the position was perfect.
Rooms and bathroom quite small.
Location Cleanliness Helpful staff Ambience Desayno okay Security Woud have preferred elevators not to run without inserting room keys for better security
Terrible slow internet. I have a Skype number but impossibe to speak with sound in and out.
Good location in the city centre.
We had a room facing the street. It was noisy. Ask for a room facing the back side.
Well-maintained, traditional hotel, with friendly, attentative staff in a great location. We booked three nights but checked out early to catch a night bus and were only charged for two and a half nights.
Buffet breakfast was a bit of a scrum at busy times, with not enough space for everyone to help themselves and a shortage of clean crockery and cutlery.
Best location for sightseeing in Salta at the corner of the main square. You can easily go to most of the museums, historic monuments, restaurants, bars, artisan shops on foot. Taxi stand is just in front of the hotel. Hotel building is very classic with wooden interior in cozy atmosphere, while the facilities such as air conditioner, mini-bar, safety box, wifi, etc. are modern enough. Receptionists speak English very well. Breakfast is served from 5:30am, so you don't miss it even if you join the day tour to outside Salta normally starting at 7:00am.
the hotel is very centrally located, on the main square. staff is very kind- spoke english except for our departue day). good wifi reception in the room. good breakfast (pastry, fruit, juices , jam and medialunas)
on the day of our checkout, the guy at the reception (quite old, slow ,didnt speak english at all), failed to call us a cab to the hour we wanted, and took over 30 minutes to do the check out (especially had trouble calculating the dollar:peso exchange rate) also bathtub was really small. eventually us and the bell boy went out to try catch a cab in the street, which took an additional 10 minutes.
The staff were all very helpful and the location marvelous. The square is a lively place full of activity - brides and quinceanas having their pictures in front of the beautiful buildings, parades, politiacal speeches, and wonderful food to enjoy while you watch it all go by. (Check out La Madera.) Try to get a balcony room with a view out the back to the gorgeous red and gold church spire. The breakfast was also better than most.
