Score from 774 reviews Very good
In the middle of Wild life and jungle. Friendly staff, comfortable and clean room with comfy bed. I have had a very good chorizo steak and decent wine. Breakfast is nice.
Pool is rather small.
La Cantera is a great lodge located near Iguazu. The staff is multilingual and very helpful. You have the atmosphere of being in a jungle area yet with lodges, a pool, restaurant and bar.
The resort is a bit of a trek from the town and the falls. The lodge runs shuttles on a limited basis which really helps. Free wifi was great although a little slow.
great location in the jungle, very nice surroundings, staff extremely friendly and accommodating, nice pool, nice villas
breakfast was ok, not bad, but not great
It's quiet place with good location (in compare with other hotels in Puerto Madero) and cool swimming pool (this is crucial point in the sunshine)
Price-quality ratio isn't ideal, I had some problems with my commodities (air-condition was out of work), breakfast was poor and I couldn't pay with cash, because they had already charged me before my arriving! Be careful if it's important for you!
Location, The taxi drivers who took us to the falls, The jungle tour
The price for the standard of accomodation The breakfast was terrible quality (stale bread and fruit) The service for meals and drinks was abysmal - expect to wait forty minutes In general, we were shocked to pay over £100/night for what was essentially a hostel
Great place to stay...
Wifi was not good and do not expect fast service in the restaurant - allow 2 hours for a one course dinner!
Wonderful peace and quiet, its forest location, its friendly staff and very good food, especially for dinner.
We can't believe that in Argentina you can run out of Torrontes wine!
every thing was as expected . very good
The pool The jungle
Very noisy due to an electric break Hotel focused on the falls, staff is not very helpful Room style not up to date
Great pool with bar. Very nice dinner. Lovely rooms peering out to the jungle.
It is a bit of a way to the falls. You will need to catch a taxi each time (or bus, though this is a lot more difficult). And taxi will set you back $40AUD each way.
The hotel is tastefully decorated, with comfortable enough rooms and a unique location in the jungle, which was the main reason for me booking. The pool is nice and picturesque in the jungle location and you can sit there at night with a glass of wine enjoying the backdrop and plan your day for the following morning. Given the price however, and the 4* claims on the website I was somewhat disappointed overall with my experience at La Cantera.
The room had no hot water, which was not rectified by the staff, who then tried to backtrack on a promise to relocate me to a different room when informed them that this problem which I had previously reported had not been fixed. Wifi is not available in rooms as suggested on the website either. Half of the rooms/locations in the hotel either have no wifi or extremely intermittent or slow connection speeds. I also had problems with a broken shower head holder and a wonky clicking air con fan which were never fixed. In total I spent US$500 for three nights, and whilst that is not a collosal amount of money, the problems I encountered were really not what I would be expecting of a hotel claiming to be of that standard. I would also recommend that you make friends with a local taxi driver and get him to do you a deal for multiple journeys around the waterfalls/bird sanctuary etc wherever you want to go, since if you book through the hotel reception it will be apprx 20% more expensive as they take a cut and charge extra. Bear in mind you will need taxi journeys, however you want to get around to any of the attractions here.
Jungle Feeling. Loads of trees and feeling of nature is super. Close to the falls is the key but they should not rest on only this for business.
Poor staff levels. I feel like they dont have experience and could work in a shop just as well as a hotel. Wifi in every room is false. Wifi in lobby and dining room only. 6.30am the final morning and the generator is turned on outside my room. I ring the reception going, you cannot do this and the girl tells me she is not an electrician and what can I expect her to do. I mean come on, its 6.30am !! This is an expensive place to stay so show professionalism or prepare to close down folks. Your attitude stinks.
Beautiful place, big rooms, excelent service, near to iguazu falls
Nice place,good food,friendly staff.room ok,bathroom could be better
Bathroom outdated.facilities around swimming pool not ok ( bar not open)
* The location gives you a good feeling of "jungle" * Very comfortable beds * Quiet * Nice swimming pool * The food served in the restaurant is very good (except that it often was luke warm or almost cold when served)
* This is not necessarily a negative point. One has to keep in mind that the lodge is about 1.5 km away from the main road. There is a shuttle at 8 am, 2 pm and 7.30 pm (only one way). During the day, it is possible to walk to the main road. At night, we would not have felt safe as there are no lights. One needs always a taxi to get around. One cannot easily go downtown. * Hard to believe - the windows (standard rooms on ground floor) have no fly screens so you can't open the windows at night. We travelled early in October so there was no need for air conditioning and we wanted to enjoy the sounds of the jungle. * The coffee that is served is probably one of the worst that we ever had on our trips.
staff spoke great English, very helpful. Joseph was brilliant getting a taxi to the airport for our budget.
no early morning shuttle to town. no return shuttle for 2 of services. Do not order the fries!! sick/injured cat that had not received medical attention.
Quiet jungle like location Clean rooms/bathrooms A/C Pool Customer Service Free shuttle service into town-now have a sign at the front desk with signs. Great communication via email Accommodated requests for transportation to various areas Breakfast buffet-on time and great selection, staff kept it stocked.
Rooms, tranquility, location, staff
Wifi was not good in rooms, but excellent by the pool and resturant, the snack bar was a bit slow when we wanted it
Large rooms with excellent quality of bed and bathroom, nice surroundings, also because downtown has little to see.
You need a taxi to move. The restaurant has not a wide choice, although what is offered is well done
The place and environmet were great
The front desk stuff were very friendly and professional. Spoke very good English, and were very helpful for every needs
The location is little far from center. Good place if you want to experience the jungle, but will not recommend to a person who wants to be close to city center.
As the weather is good, this hotel is very nice.
Our first room was smelly : they did disinfection. We ask to change the room after one night
The bed was amazing as was the food in the restaurant
Didn't meet all expectations e.g. Not all rooms have a whirlpool bath as descriptor states!
Good service. English speaking staff. It had a nature feel to it.
The food was horrible. I ordered a filet sandwich and got a piece of rubber meat that included slimy ham and egg for some reason. The beds were very uncomfortable. Didn't sleep well. A ton of bugs were expected but we had quite a few in the room as well.
Great hotel with nice shower, bed and breakfast. Swimming pool was big. Nice surroundings.
The hotel is very badly for travellers without a car. The free shuttle bus to iguazu went at strange times (and with strange rules). We missed it by one minute because the driver and staff didn't care about who booked a seat. Ah well...
