The bus from and to el calafate stops right in front of it. The front desk is really helpful! Staying here feels much more comfortable than other hostels I stayed.
The staff were great....helpful advice and friendly. Food at the restaurant was also good and very generous portions.
No complaints at all.
- Staff was friendly and helpful - Continental Breakfast was OK ! - Very clean hotel (specially shared bathroom) - Shared Kitchen was well equiped - The hotel's restaurant was very good !
- nothing !
- Breakfast - Staff really friendly
- Kitchen 2 cook by yourself was dirty and old. tip for hostel: A lot of people use this be sure this is clean and the equipment is good 2 use. tip 2: Put some basic things in it Oil, Salt/pepper, sugar, lighter...
Buses come and go to and from the front door.
Bed full of hair. Kitchen smells and has very few and in bad shape utensils. Staff not really helpful.
Staff were very helpful and they spoke English. Good food (bought dinners) and service Relaxed feel, though it was winter and quiet Close to hike trails Good information
We went hiking the trails in July and the information given to us was very informal, yeah it's fine, no problem type of info which turned out to be incorrect. Double check with tourist info as well. Breakfast was pretty ordinary, though we got a nice coffee so that was fine.
The région is gorgeous And the Stuff help a lot.
Location is perfect. Stuff is friendly but they barely speak English.
Wifi wasn't working most of the time. On the first night I arrived they told me they were gonna fix it tomorrow but I saw the lady on the counter was on her Facebook the whole time.On the second day I found out there were actually 2 wifi connections. The one they gave us the password was Rancho which wasn't working the whole time. I told them I was gonna go somewhere else if they can't make it work today then another guy who can speak English gave us a password for another wifi connection which was named gold star, ( WTF they could just give it to us since our first night ) this one was working but they was turned off during the night time. Futuremore, while I was showering I told my bf to go eat breakfast first but my bf came back and told me one of the staff told home that breakfast wasn't included and didn't give him any information about trekking or anything and told my bf to go the tour company a couple blocks down the street. We didn't know that we can just walk to the entrance and start trekking ourselves without a tour guide. We wasted a couple hours figured it out things ( finding atour company, walking to other hostels to ask for their help and think about moving to another hostel across the street) without an access to the internet. After I went back to hostel and got the guy to get internet working for us. I ordered 2 breakfast and the same guy that told my bf that breakfast wasn't included told me that it would be only 15 peso extra each becoz the breakfast that is included is only continental. I was fine but why he lied to my bf at the first place. The food came out very slow. Only one lady working in the kitchen. We ended us starting our trekking at 11.45 and didn't have enough time to see the top of the fitz Roy. This hostel ruined our plan and everything !!
Great location, very close to the hiking trails. Hostel was clean, warm, comfortable with nice large common areas.
Breakfast was very poor. Their Booking.com page states "A continental breakfast buffet with natural juices, fresh cakes and seasonal fruits is served daily". No buffet, no juices only orange cordial, no cake or fruit. All that was served was toastadas, which were very poor. We asked about the breakfast and showed the staff their booking.com page, we're told that it was wrong as they have no fruit only canned fruit. .... We were offered a piece of cake that morning, only, same poor quality breakfast for the following two mornings.
Lovely hostel. Nice staffs Warm dorm bedroom Comfortable living room and dining hall. Close to supermarket Hot shower & clean toilet Close to trekking start point
slow internet (common problem in this city, not only this hostel I think.) 10-15 min walk from bus station, it is very difficult to walk during winter time as my shoes are not for ice/snow condition.
Lovely big common area. Bar serves nice food with very generous portions. Friendly place, would stay here again.
Kitchen needs to be improved, lack of utensils and you have to ask each time you need lighter or oil etc for cooking.
Cosy atmosphere Next to supermarket and trekking paths
The showers have the best water pressure you'll ever meet.
There were just SO MANY PEOPLE staying there. Place is huge and run like a big business, with the restaurant and everything more than like a friendly hostel. And the kitchen was TINY and dirty and you had to ask for cooking utensils, cups, knives, everything from the kitchen. There was no oven either. SO many people in there trying to cook at once
Staff Location Bar
Location to the treks, decent restaurant, solid quality accommodations. Good buzz with the place.
Wifi was slow.
Really nice place, 4 bed dorms, hot shower. it s a great place! there is a nice, big dining/living room. You can also have a drink or order some food
Unfortunately we were expecting to have a resting day after few trek, organizing the next part of our trip but we couldn't because the wifi was not working! small kitchen
Best empanadas ever!
Nowhere to wash a shirt. It's OK to go to a laundromat if you have a load of washing, but one day's shirt and undies do not warrant a whole machine wash.
Nice common areas. Good sized double room with neat bathroom.
The noise from the common areas echoed around the rest of the property. The kitchen was too small for the number of people wanting to use it.
The facilities are really comfy and the double room is really best value for the price!! Bathrooms were new and rooms are warm, spacious kitchen and areas to hang out. I totally recommend it. Staff was very friendly and helpful too :)
since is a bigger hostel, it can feel a bit unpersonnal and people come in larger groups
Big dining hall, space to relax
Breakfast not included Bed was like a wood plank
Decent location, although the town is small so you can stay just about anywhere and be close to the trails. I wouldn't pick this place just because it's at the far end of town.
Loud. We stayed for five nights and every night there was some loud conversation in the hallway at 2 AM. Shared kitchen is tiny and there are few utensils for cooking. Included breakfast is just toast and jam. Shower is tiny and soaks the bathroom floor. Internet is sketchy, although that has more to do with El Chalten than it does with the hostel.
Nice hostel with a lot of backpackers. The dorms are small but clean, the location is ok (near the beginning of many treks) , I recommend.
No breakfast (possibility to buy one) and it is a bit expensive for what it is. Not much intimacy in the bathrooms but they are very clean (cleaned at least 10 times a day !)
El Chalten is a small village inside the national park. Rancho Grande is very close to one of the enterance points of it. Also it has a resturant with nice food, although the prices are not that fair but it nice when you don't want to cook
very poor internet connection price a bit high in regards to other hostels in chalten. The staff was generally nice, except one receptionist who was really un-welcoming and rude to guests. As I speak spanish fluently I couldn't ignore that that receptionist was making fun and saying really not nice things infront of guests of the hostel, taking advantage that they didn't understand her. For us that was disgusting and really left us a negative impression
