The view of the lake. The location near downtown. They gave us a suite for the price of a standard room, since the hotel was full. The suite was wonderful!!!
Some people of the staff were very nice, other not so much. Breakfast didn´t have many options, but I know most hotels in Argentina are like this.
warmly and kindly staff.
Pre arrival and on arrival Ana was superbly helpful. I arrived in the dark and so on my first morning I was stunned at the divine view. Absolutely gorgeous. The air was chilly but the pool toasty warm. Superb to peer over the edge of the pool to the beautiful lake with as much of my body as possible submerged in the warm water. My room was room 1, it was lovely. Not modern at all, but clean and beautiful. Great water pressure, always hot water. Good and clean towels. A comfy chair to sit and while away time looking out over the pool and lake. Just up the road away from Bariloche before the 6000's is the best restaurant I came across in all my south american travels. Called La Salamadra Pulperia. Divine and cheap. The best steak and salad with two glasses of wine for 160 pesos. The people spoke perfect English, (something I had not experienced much in the previous two weeks. I know I was in a Spanish speaking country, but my lack of language skills proved to be more difficult in Argentina than in any other country I have traveled (& I have traveled a lot) ) In this restaurant I did not feel ripped off because I was a tourist. I had had a few days of difficulty, this was my haven.
Breakfast was disappointing. Pretty much all sugar, from the orange drink (it was not juice), to the nuclear pink yoghurt (that the locals loved), the cereals were sweet, the bread was sweet and there was a variety of cakes. Sweet is obviously the Argentinian breakfast - it's just not mine. The coffee was something instant? I am not sure, I am a self confessed coffee snob and while I did lower my standards while in Brazil and Argentina, this coffee did not get past the first icky sip. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of food and it was regularly topped up, presented well and the dining area also looks over the lake. For me it wasn't hearty or healthy and so did not appeal to me. Others (locals) ate away merrily. The first & second morning the pool was hot and hot tub half full, the surrounding area was in need of attention (although it was autumn so the desire to laze by the pool wasn't there and so didn't really matter at all) Unfortunately on the evening of day two the pool was cold! However, the hot tub was full (& cold) and the area was clean. Thankfully by the third morning the hot tub was hot, the pool still slightly cool, too cool to hang by the waters edge, but not too cool to have a swim, then dash back into the newly cleaned and filled hot tub. The pool opened too late, you were not allowed to swim until 9:30am. I like to swim then do breaky, here I ate first or swam quickly. Hardly a real complaint, certainly a luxury to have a pool in the first place, but still.
Great service, location, beautiful view & comfortable room and yes, excellent bed...
stairway carpets full of stains
The location of this small hotel is outstanding. All the rooms have a lake view, and the stunning view of the mountains across the lake from our huge picture window was one of the highlights of our six weeks in Chile and Argentina. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bariloche is a short, inexpensive taxi ride away
Poor sound insulation between rooms is one of the few downsides. Eating meals on-site offers the same terrific view, but limited throughput means choices are a bit limited
Best bed we slept on in Argentina . Lovely view, and delicious dinner.
