first of all you must understand that this hotel is run by 4 people and all of their friends work and live there. only one of them speaks english (as he told us that they all live here it made more sense to us why this hotel doesnt feel like a hotel). we often had the feeling that we were invading their space as they gave us strange looks or stopped talking as we entered the kitchen/common room. the hotel is close to la defensa streetmarket held on sunday.
our room was super tiny, we had problems fitting our luggage in. the hotel is very noisy, you hear everybody in the common area and kitchen, you hear the bell and the phone and people talking through the night. also there is a dog in the building next door and he barks 24/7, so bring oropax. the internet is not very good.
Fair value for money, good area for staying in BA.
There were some things broken in the bathroom (but clean), the toilet flush was repaired within a couple hours though, so no problem.
Viejo Telmo is a great place! It's in the very nice San Telmo neighbourhood. Restaurants and bars are a few blocks away. Plaza Dorrego is also close. It is close to 9 de julio and safe to walk aroud at night. The rooms are really nicely decorated and cleaned every day. The staff is very helpfull.
The style of the hotel is lovely. Also, the roof top terrace is a nice addition.
When we arrived I've noticed that the bed looks messy and unchanged. After checking it more closely I found loads of hair in it and you could clearly see that it has not been changed. One would think even if you pay a relatively small price for a hotel - the clean sheets is mandatory, no? I asked the lady in reception is it possible to change it but instead of saying yes, she went upstairs to check it. After doing so she agreed that it was filthy and said it will be changed when we come back in the evening. Fair enough, we thought. However, it was not the case. When we got back another lady greeted us. She didn't speak English at all and just gave us the sheets. We had to do it ourselves after a long night out. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem doing it but after finding the sheets dirty and being promised a change, I felt really upset. They should definitely concentrate more on their customer service and cleanliness. The breakfast was very basic as well.
Near subway and bus connections. Near May place and Defensa street ( San Telmo market on SUnday morning) Breakfast on the roof Nice, design and cosy rooms Good wifi connections.
Movements and voice in the corridors all night long.
The hotel is quite clean and the staff try to help you if they can. Breakfast was alright.
The location is very far from everything and the rooms are super small and without a window. We could hear the door bell (which you have to ring every time you want to get inside) the whole night... The AC was really old and dirty.
Very Noisy at nighttime
Staff spoke little to no English - doors were extremely difficult to lock so had to put case against it to sleep. There was no Toliet paper when we arrived. When leaving they tried to charge us almost double the rate quoted on booking.com saying it was a tourist rate (almost 4 dollars more than exchange rate) eventually the lady after hard language barrier charged the rate quoted
La terraza La onda del lugar
The showers were nice. The building itself is fairly old and pretty. There is a lovely dog that lives on premise. The place is not terribly expensive. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. That's about it.
Small rooms with little natural sunlight, leaking air conditioning, very little English spoken by most of the staff, the location is a bit dodgy, the sink was broken, the building is noisy, and leaks when raining (not in the room though). Most importantly, we booked (and confirmed 4 times with reception) a ride to the airport. The ride never came, the staff never alerted us, and we missed our flight. Of course this is partially our fault, but I would expect at least some effort when you mention it 4 times.
everything was great. we got a upgrade from a room with shared bathroom to a room with private bathroom. perfect. the room and the house are very cosy and beautiful.,also, the breakfast was really good.
after a little "discussing" about the exchange rate from dollars to pesos to pay the room, the owner accept our point of view
Looks like I got the worst room but still, it was a neat place to stay. Although rather worn-out, it has the charm and style of the former good times. The location is controversial. It is a bit of a walk to the center of San Telmo but just in two blocks from the stop of Bus 45 (at Avenida de 9 Julio) that comes directly to AEP airport.
Most of the houses at the street look abandoned and this is quite scary at the first acquaintance. There is nothing actually bad as you will see.
Friendly people that gived us all information that we need, such as how to take the bus, subway and travel to other cities. They suggested good places to eat and visit. We love it! Flávia & Thiago Laurindo
The staff was very nice and the breakfast was good. Our three children each had their own twin bed though barely anything else could fit into the room. There was free wifi included.
The floors were creaking and the bathroom was about the size of a small closet. The doors to the roomed seemed to be the original ones from the 1940's with almost see through curtains at glass windows leading to the hallway. there were holes on the wall to accommodate cable tv that lead to other guest rooms making privacy almost impossible. The advertised laptop safe was barely large enough to accommodate our passports. The noise from the construction site across the street could be heard as of they were in our room even with the windows closed as securely as they could be which was very good at all. At checkout, they only accepted cash and never told us yhat at check-in.
Very friendly host with perfect English was a great help. The hotel is in a beautiful old building. A little hard to find but very nice with high vaulted ceilings and original woodwork. Room was basic but great value for money
WiFi was intermittent and the breakfast was strange. Fresh juice without sugar and water would be good.
Very good hotel considering the cheap price ! The rooms are cosy, the breakfast is good, the staff is helpful, we highly recommend !
The wifi did not work well in our room (the matrimonial one) and the location is not perfect (as far from the center than from San Telmo but close to none)
I especially liked that it was not an "American style" hotel, but a wonderful caring, clean environment. Excellent service and comfortable room. The price was very inexpensive for the quality! They picked me up at airport for reasonable fee and I did not have to pay the driver, but reimbursed the hotel.
The hotel was perfect. No negatives!! The sidewalks around the city are in terrible condition, however.
nice staff, clean room and good location. we can use wifi.
nice personal and very friendly as well, very nice arrangement /decoration inside the hostel
rooms facing directly the street are very noisy
Everything else was below par
Very nice hostel and staff
Noise between rooms if neighbours are noisy
Friendlyness and helpfulness of staff, good wifi, terrace, price, connections to bus and subte
Immediate neighborhood in disrepair
The staff and owner, Max, made you feel welcome immediately. They were always willing to help in any way they could.
I could not get a signal for the WiFi in my room, but I was the last room down the hall.
The room was nice and the people at the reception very friendly.
It was close to San Telmo market and other attractions in that suburb.
Did not want to walk back at night down the street. The roof top deck needs a lot of attention. It could be a great place to hang out but the chairs are in great disrepair, plants neglected and generally looks run down.
